00:00The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has launched an inquiry into a property-government-linked

00:07investment company over allegations of abuse of power involving a very senior official.

00:13MACC Special Operations Division Senior Director Azmi Kamaruzaman said the Pelaburan Hartanah

00:19Berhad official is alleged to have enjoyed hundreds of thousands of ringgit in benefits

00:24by abusing their position.

00:26Azmi said the individual allegedly caused PHB to spend more than it was supposed to

00:31on those benefits.

00:33Speaking to FMT, he said the official allegedly misled the company into giving benefits that

00:38were beyond what they were entitled to, adding that MACC received a tip-off on the matter.

00:43Nonetheless, he maintained that the case was not an investigation yet, but simply an inquiry.

00:50MACC officers also paid PHB's headquarters a visit to verify the information they received,

00:56seizing several files after spending three hours there.

01:00Azmi said they needed to confirm several matters before deciding whether to summon the senior

01:04official and others for questioning.
