00:09I call her bilingual because she speaks chicken and human.
00:13She does every chicken vocalization.
00:15She likes watching the chickens outside the window and she does all of their calls.
00:21I feel like she's one of my children.
00:25I'm the executive director for Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.
00:28We've taken about 5,000 to 7,000 birds a year.
00:33Ace was injured during a fall from her nest.
00:36A good Samaritan found her.
00:38Our goal is always to release wild animals into the wild.
00:41She recovered better than we thought but at the point she was already imprinted, we can't
00:45really reverse that.
00:50And so we raised her to be an ambassador bird and as a foster crow.
00:55We have a few words that she says but her favorite word is what.
01:02From a young baby, she seemed to fear being outside which is unusual for most crows.

01:09You have something you're not supposed to have.
01:11We've tried multiple times getting her outside but every time we try to do that, she doesn't
01:15like it and it's just hard for me to have her outside screaming and stuff so we just
01:21kind of stopped trying to get her out.
01:23She is just sounding the alarm.
01:25We're trying to build her an aviary right now where we can sort of transition her a
01:29little better just to get some outside time.
01:32We've tried putting her in with other crows and she's afraid of them.
01:35I even tried like a stuffed crow and like one of those decorator crows that they put
01:39out at Halloween.
01:40I'm just a baby.
01:41She really wants the human interaction just all day long.

01:46The funny thing is she likes money.
01:47One time, I didn't realize I had left my purse out and she took $60 out of my purse.
01:52Eventually, when we moved her enclosure, we found a half of like a $20 bill but some
01:56of the money was never found.

02:03She has a very complicated meal plan that she gets every day.
02:11When we first started feeding her adult food, she became overweight and the vet said she
02:15had to be on diet.
02:16So we do restrict her food and we bury it every day.

02:21She definitely sees me as her mother.
02:22Whenever I'm gone for any period of time, she'll do her baby crow like fledgling thing.
02:26They flutter their wings and their tail and they bend down and they open their mouth.
02:30And I feel bad because I'm like, I know she misses me when I'm not here.
02:33Now she's, she's fixing my hair for me.

02:37They don't make good pets.
02:38I think a lot of people want a pet crow.
02:40They don't realize that crows can live 50 years and they're incredibly intelligent.
02:45I think people oftentimes think about themselves more than they do the animals.

02:52She was originally Albert Crow Einstein and that's where Ace came and then we did a DNA
02:57test and she ended up being a girl.
02:59So she's Alberta Crow Einstein now.
