The people that brought her in
said that they found her like that
and they ended up
choosing to surrender her.

00:00 She just had burns everywhere.
00:01 The people that brought her in said that they found her like that
00:04 and they ended up choosing to surrender her.
00:06 But luckily for her and for me,
00:08 Fine Feline Cat Rescue in Uxbridge, Massachusetts
00:11 committed to take her on right then and there
00:12 and her treatment started that day to save her life.
00:15 As soon as I heard her story,
00:26 I knew she was supposed to be my kid.
00:28 Like, 100% knew it.
00:29 [meow]
00:29 [meow]
00:32 I already had four cats.
00:34 I already had two rescue dogs.
00:35 And I have three children.
00:37 So I tried to talk myself out of it.
00:39 But I just knew she needed 100% a home
00:41 that was going to spoil her and love her
00:44 for the rest of her life.
00:45 We didn't know what she would have for permanent disabilities
00:48 and it didn't matter to me.
00:49 I knew that I would love her through whatever was coming.
00:51 It took seven months of treatment
00:53 and seven months of her healing
00:54 before I was able to bring her home.
00:59 The first two days, it was pretty touch and go
01:00 because she was just so terrified.
01:02 As soon as any little noise or anything,
01:03 she would try and run and hide.
01:05 Phoenix!
01:10 Hi!
01:12 Come here!
01:16 Come here!
01:18 But she quickly warmed up to me.
01:19 Hi, pretty girl!
01:20 She's my soul cat.
01:23 I see a lot of myself in her with just resilience.
01:25 You can go through so much and just,
01:27 you know, with a little bit of time
01:29 and the right people loving you,
01:30 you can just flourish again.
01:32 I feel calmer with her around me.
01:34 And I feel like I'm that person for her, too.
01:37 When we are not home, I have cameras around the house
01:44 and she's always going up to them,
01:46 seeing if I'll talk to her.
01:47 And when I get home, she's immediately where I am.
01:52 So it's just this needing to be around each other.
01:56 Her favorite thing to do is to wake me up
01:58 by biting the tip of my nose.
01:59 And she'll be standing on my chest looking at me like,
02:01 "Oh, you woke up! Great!"
02:02 And just wants to play or get snuggles.
02:04 It's not even that she wants her food.
02:06 She just wants me awake at that moment.
02:07 And if for some reason I can't see her,
02:09 I just call her and wherever she is in the house,
02:11 she comes running to me, meowing the whole way.
02:14 She's done really, really well.
02:15 She does have feline asthma,
02:17 so she has an inhaler for that that we use.
02:19 But slowly weaning her back from that
02:21 as her lungs are getting stronger.
02:22 She has scars, but her coat is so healthy and full
02:25 that you barely notice them.
02:27 She's absolutely the most beautiful girl.
02:33 She has the softest fur and the most gorgeous coat markings.
02:36 She's been through so much.
02:37 I mean, she's only 18 months old
02:39 and the amount that she's been through in her life already
02:41 is just, I mean, most kittens wouldn't survive
02:44 what she went through.
02:45 And not only did she survive,
02:46 she's just this vibrant girl.
02:48 She works through it and she has this tenacity for life.
02:51 Just an amazing girl.
