Rishi Sunak has said that "after a difficult couple of years", the UK has made the case that it is now the "best place" to start and invest in a business. Speaking at a PM Connect event at Siemens Healthineers factory, the prime minister added that the latest ONS figures showing a 0.6% growth in the economy gives him "enormous confidence and optimism that we are on the right track". 01:51 And as we were just hearing, the investment today is great news.
01:55 Hundreds of millions of pounds, not just to create hundreds of new jobs, which is obviously very welcome,
02:00 but actually more importantly to create the innovations in healthcare of the future that are going to help people recover faster, not get sick, find diseases, make people live longer.
02:11 That's inspiring and that's what you all are doing here.
02:14 So thank you enormously from me and the team for everything that you do and bring to the table.
02:19 After a difficult couple of years, we have managed to make the case to the world that this is the best place to start a business, to grow a business, to invest in a business.
02:28 Thanks to the reforms to our tax system, cutting taxes for businesses that are investing, that are putting more into R&D like you are doing.
02:36 Making sure that we can encourage regulation that supports innovation.
02:40 Those are all things that create an environment for businesses to prosper and I'm glad that these investments were a sign that they are working.
02:47 And actually today's figures on the economy and being here with all of you just gives me enormous confidence and optimism that we are on the right track.
