00:00The story of the spring, probably the story of the summer, would be state-by-state, each
00:08legislative group taking a look at things and saying, hey, look, college football's
00:11coming.
00:12Do we want to allow people to bet on props from our student-athletes?
00:17I think that's the next story here, Matt, for the next three, four months, is to state-by-state
00:21who allows it, who doesn't.
00:22There has not been a state to come out and say, we want to keep it, and now we have another
00:26state saying, we want to bid it farewell.
00:29Which one is this?
00:30Yeah, this is North Carolina, and it's interesting, Craig, because, obviously, if they wanted
00:35to do this, they could have done it earlier in the year when these things were being talked
00:39about and they were still crafting regulations and whatnot.
00:43But what's interesting about this bill that was filed in North Carolina, I'm not sure
00:47if there is a disconnect or if maybe the sponsor just wants to go heavier than other states,
00:55but this wouldn't just be banning player props in North Carolina.
00:59It would be banning all college props, so there would be no H-1 over-betting, nothing
01:04like that.
01:06And that's interesting, because you do see some states saying, yeah, we don't want to
01:10take any bets on what an individual player might do.
01:14And you can even stretch that argument to say, well, OK, we don't want to take bets
01:19on what the over on the passing yards might be, because that comes down to one player,
01:24the quarterback.
01:25I can understand that, too.
01:27But once you start taking out first half overs and that kind of stuff, that seems unnecessary
01:32to me.
01:33And again, I don't know if maybe it was just a misunderstanding from the people in North
01:42Carolina.
01:43I'm not sure.
01:44Now, we don't think the bill is going to pass anyway.
01:46It's a Democratic bill.
01:47It doesn't have the support of Republicans in North Carolina.
01:51But yeah, we're going to see more of this.
01:53We're going to hear more about this.
01:55Ohio already said they're not going to do it.
01:58Louisiana said they're not going to do it.
02:00So we have more states coming out and saying no more college player props.
02:05And look, they were proven to be a small part of the market.
02:07Ohio said it was like one point something percent.
02:10So it's not huge at the end of the day.
02:12But Craig, we have to remember that if there are people that want to bet these and it's
02:16not available in the legal states, they're still going to bet them.
02:19They're just going to go offshore.
02:25Yeah.
02:26Yeah.
02:27Yeah.
02:28Yeah.
