Michelle Bly owner of The Flower Shop in Littlehampton talks to reporter Elaine Hammond about her charity demonstration evening planned for June
Transcript
00:00 Hi I'm Michelle Bly and I'm the owner of the car shop in Wiltshire and we have been here for over 17 years now.
00:08 To celebrate the first National Florist Day in June, we thought it would be great to do a demonstration of our skills
00:16 and also raise a little bit of money for charity at the same time by raffling off some beautiful arrangements
00:26 that we're going to cover showing what we do in the space of a year and all the different celebrations like Christmas and Mother's Day.
00:38 So people will be watching you put together bouquets.
00:42 Yes, so we will show the different arrangements, also weddings, what we might choose to do for different occasions
00:51 like a wedding anniversary or a 21st birthday and all the different designs that we offer
00:59 and a few little tips and tricks of the trades that you might not know about
01:05 and maybe some little anecdotes of what happens behind the scenes in a flower shop.
01:11 So it will be quite a fun evening for people won't it?
01:14 Primarily it is going to be a fun sociable evening, not serious, just something that you can come and sit and enjoy.
01:25 And then you'll raffle off what you've made?
01:28 And then all of the arrangements we will raffle off.
01:30 Well we're going to make, I'm not going to be able to ruffle up over 12 arrangements in the time
01:36 so we will be preparing some that are already part done, some that are already done so that we've got a good selection
01:45 which we can just explain what we've done with even if I haven't demonstrated them.
01:50 And that's raising money for?
01:52 And then we're going to raise money for Cancer Research UK and St Barnabas House which are two charities.
02:00 Which you've always supported St Barnabas, yes.
02:03 And yeah, just to have a nice fun evening really.
02:08 So do people come to the shop to buy their tickets?
02:11 Yes, yes, you can book the ticket either over the phone or come in in person
02:17 but booking is essential because we are limited to how many spaces we can have in the halls.
02:24 How much is the ticket?
02:26 So it's £10 per person and we're going to get some tasty refreshments as well
02:31 and also a little goodie bag with some surprises.
02:35 That'll be a great evening.
02:37 Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
