Raptors coach Nick Nurse is ready to get the NBA regular season back underway after a dud in Toronto's scrimmage finale.
Transcript
00:00 Raptors coach Nick Nurse put it perfectly after today's game. "I'm glad
00:05 there aren't any more of these," Nurse said. The third and final scrimmage game for
00:10 the Raptors was a bit of a dud. They committed 28 turnovers and looked
00:15 completely out of sorts against the Phoenix Suns.
00:18 Well we certainly didn't do anything very well tonight, Doug. Combination of us not being, you know,
00:28 super engaged or energetic and them being, you know, them playing very well
00:35 to give them a lot of credit. I thought they had us back on our heels all night.
00:38 There were, however, a few bright spots. Norman Powell broke out of his shooting
00:43 slump with a 6-for-11 day including two from behind the arc. Well I thought he
00:49 played very well, you know, in certain areas. Doug, he scored the ball, shot a little
00:54 better, still had some drives I would like to see him finish. Mark Gasol
00:59 looked very fluid out there today and though he didn't shoot particularly well,
01:02 he looked strong defensively and his passing looked to be in regular season
01:07 form. Lastly, Paul Watson looked pretty good off the bench for the Raptors. He
01:11 was a virtual unknown to Nurse when he showed up and joined the team in Florida
01:15 but he looked very impressive today. It won't take long for the Raptors to flush
01:19 today's game as they get ready to start their seeding games against the Los
01:23 Angeles Lakers on Saturday.
