00:00 Hi, my name is Abhir. I'm a 22-year-old youth environmentalist and sustainability consultant
00:08 from Delhi, India. My constituency, my Lok Sabha constituency, is the New Delhi constituency.
00:16 And if I was a member of parliament from this constituency for a day, I would focus on four
00:21 key imperatives. The first would be to champion the basic economic essentials of roti, kapla
00:27 and makkaan. Countless individuals, including in the national capital, remain homeless and
00:32 on the streets, either because they didn't have homes to begin with, or because their
00:37 homes have been demolished without due process. Thus, my overarching focus would be to reduce
00:42 income inequality and ensure that everyone, and I mean everyone, has access to roti, kapla
00:49 and makkaan. Secondly, I would focus on delivering quality education and healthcare, making them
00:56 completely affordable, if not free. While doing all of this, I would continue to strive
01:01 to ensure that Delhi remains a budgetary surplus state. Third, and crucially, I would work
01:08 with my fellow parliamentarians to ensure that Delhi is given complete statehood, and
01:13 in the interim, to ensure that there is a clear delineation of roles and responsibilities.
01:19 Finally, I would work with my fellow parliamentarians to ensure that judicial processes and autonomous
01:25 agencies are not being interfered with. Innocent until proven guilty would be the motto for
01:31 legal jurisprudence, and I would ensure that government power is not misused for personal
01:37 nor professional gains. Thank you and Jai Hind.
