00:00 Hi, my name is Steve Maffey. I own Spinit Records in the indoor market in Hull. We've
00:07 been here 30 years and we've got a stock of 16,000 LPs in the shop and we have a lock-up
00:15 as well. As far as we know, we're the oldest vinyl-only shop in the UK. We've been vinyl
00:22 only for about 26 years. Usually other shops that I go to, they all sell CDs and DVDs.
00:30 I haven't. I do vinyl only. You get to a stage in your life where you need to do something.
00:36 I had a bit of knowledge about records. I had a record collection and it took it from
00:42 there. Yeah, I've always liked it. I don't know why because my parents never had a record
00:48 player. It's just something that I liked. The feedback of the customers, I find that
00:55 appealing. It's very sociable. Yes, you can tell a lot about somebody by the record collection.
01:01 Well, I just sell 90% second-hand vinyl. Really popular at the moment is the 80s. Anything
01:10 Duran Duran, A-ha, Simp Pop from the 80s. I sell everything from 50s to classical to
01:20 rock punk. I think the best thing I've sold is an absolutely mint copy of the first Led
01:27 Zeppelin album. I sold that for £3,000 quite a few years ago. At the moment, I've got an
01:36 acetate by a band called The Ivies that turned into Bad Finger. It's an unreleased, unknown
01:44 acetate. It's never been released to the public. The Sex Pistols A&M single I would love to
01:52 have, just to say that I've had one. Beatles' Please Please Me, Gold Stereo. I'd like to
02:00 have one of them as well. I haven't had one for a few years.
