For several years friends Lisa Wilson and Vicky Davies have been working together to help people in their area buy their weekly essentials.
They're from Heath Hayes, a village proud of its community spirit, a quality which has been an embodiment of this particular area for decades upon decades, harking back to when the local mining industry was at its most prominent.
Whilst generations have passed since then, such determination to serve the community from those in a position to do so hasn’t been lost.

00:00 Heath Hayes is a proud community village and Lisa Wilson and Vicky Davis' community shop is still going strong as it approaches its third year in business.
00:09 This comes after the duo set up a scheming lockdown at the Fythe Wys Inn pub to help those in need.
00:15 Heath Hayes has got a proud community spirit and what place embodies that more than a community shop?
00:21 Lisa Wilson and Vicky Davis thought of this idea just after Covid when they ran a free food table service.
00:28 We're here to see how it's been progressing in the last year and a half since our last article.
00:33 Wilson and Davis are also keen for volunteers to play their part and I was able to get one of their points of view on proceedings.
00:40 This shop is really essential for the local community. It started up during lockdown because there are families out there that don't want to hand out but they also still find this a bit of a struggle.
00:55 So having the shop and we've created it as much of a shop atmosphere as possible, they come along, they can get the essentials but then they're still able to pay for it so that they don't feel that they're coming for a handout.
01:08 There's no embarrassment there but they're able to get weekly supplies that they need at a good price.
01:15 And how's it been progressing since lockdown in terms of numbers?
01:19 Numbers are rising all the time. Each week we see more new members joining. In total, we serve the community of about 8,000 people and new members join in each week.
01:33 And did it fare a bit? The five ways in, he says.
