Analyzing why the Bay Area media refuses to hold San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan accountable for his failures.
Transcript
00:00 I mean, in the Bay Area, I got, there was one article in one newspaper by a friend of mine,
00:06 and it said, the headline said, "Don't blame Kyle Shanahan for this one." Don't blame Kyle
00:12 Shanahan for this one? Who the hell else do you blame? Is he your friend? What do you mean,
00:16 don't blame Kyle? Why? Because his feelings are hurt? I blame him. Is he safe, dude?
00:22 I mean, I really blame him. And the more information that comes out, I blame him more.
00:27 No one that I know of has written about what Kittle did. This should be on the front page
00:33 of the newspapers, what he did. And there should be an article in every local newspaper,
00:40 to the extent that there are local newspapers, explaining in detail, step by step, how Kyle
00:49 lost the Super Bowl, lost the Super Bowl with his bonehead, uninformed, ignorant, childish,
01:01 unprofessional decision. There's no getting around it. Where is the column?
01:08 And then he changed the story eight times afterward to make it worse.
01:12 Where is the column about that? Where is the local media? Are you there to
01:18 cheer? Or Ira Miller would write about it. I would write about it. Glenn Dickey would write about it.
01:25 What in the world is going on when you ignore the key? It's like ignoring, you're writing about
01:34 World War II and you don't mention Pearl Harbor. Where is this? Where's the coverage?
01:40 There's no, there's really been no analysis of why the Niners lost the Super Bowl. The coverage
01:43 has been, what a tragedy. Yeah. Oh, we feel sorry. Yeah. They tried it. Good guys. I mean,
01:50 they really did well and now they got to try again and it's exhausting, but look at them.
01:54 They're going to keep trying and that proves that they're champions. I mean, sure, they lost
01:59 the Super Bowl, but the way that they're going to try again next year, I mean, that's championship
02:05 makeup right there. Yeah, I know. Right. And again, you were getting absolutely. And that
02:12 the media is in their corner rooting for them. Yeah. It's Kyle's fault. Like, why are you piling
02:17 on? I mean, he's having a tough time. Things don't go your way. It's football. Hey, it's football.
02:21 It's not a seven game series, but sometimes the best team doesn't win. Like when Kyle's the coach,
02:26 the best team isn't going to win because he's going to mess it up, but you know, he's going
02:28 to keep trying. And in 15 years, he may figure it out because that's how long it took Andy Reed.
02:33 So, hey, you know, Kyle's 60. He's probably going to win one. So everyone just be patient.
02:38 He may eventually win one, but the difference between him and Andy Reed is Andy Reed is really
02:46 a good coach and Kyle gets in his own way. Kyle fails because he's Kyle. Andy succeeds because
02:54 he's Andy. Nikki, I want to bring up another topic. There was that punt. It hit off Looter's
03:01 foot and then Ray Ray tried to pick it up and run with it and it didn't work out. He didn't secure
03:09 the ball. I want everybody to know this. You know, I know I wrote a book on Bill Walsh when he came
03:14 back to Stanford and I sat in team and all the team, not all, but really most of the team meetings,
03:20 he had a theme before every game and he said it before every game. If there's a loose ball,
03:27 never try to advance it. Fall on it. This is Bill Walsh, three time Super Bowl winner.
03:33 Don't try to advance it because chances are you're going to screw it up and lose the ball.
03:38 Yeah, just fall on it. Well, where was Kyle telling Ray Ray fall on it? Where was he?
03:45 That's another lapse. Yeah. If Bill Walsh, who's demonstrably better coach than Kyle Shanahan,
03:52 paid attention to that detail, what the hell does this guy do? He looks at his play sheet.
03:58 He calls a play no matter what the situation is. If it calls for a run, he calls for 10 passes.
04:04 Yeah. And he doesn't attend to the details of fall on the ball. Hey, what are the overtime rules?
04:11 Hey, we know the rules. Hey, they changed the rules a couple of years ago. You know that?
04:14 Are you aware? Well, what's your strategy? Do you watch college football? Because it's
04:18 something they do all the time. Yeah.
