00:00 When we are venturing into the year of the dragon and everybody is hoping for a dragon
00:06 baby.
00:07 So in this year, for some people who's got normal sperm count or normal low sperm count
00:13 and hoping to enhance their sperm quality for that big chance of a dragon baby, what
00:19 should you do?
00:26 So apart from the healthy lifestyle, i.e. regular exercise, probably about 20-30 minutes
00:33 per day, hydration of more than 2.5 litres of water, sleep, sleep is extremely important
00:40 for spermatogenesis, less stress and obviously more balanced diet.
00:46 On the issue of diet, what's good and what's bad for sperm count?
00:50 We also know that actually fried food or spicy food or a lot of food that contains cholesterol
00:59 and also food that contains uric acid might not be so good.
01:03 But if you are thinking about supplement, what should you consider?
01:07 The classic thing that people think about would be zinc and selenium.
01:11 Zinc and selenium are probably available in a lot of fruit and vegetable and also in beans
01:16 and also in beef.
01:18 However, specific type of the actual minerals or supplement such as D-aspartate acid and
01:27 that's been shown to actually enhance the number of sperms in men.
01:32 Apart from that, we have to think about vitamin C. So vitamin A, C and E are considered as
01:39 antioxidant, specifically vitamin C. If you take 1000mg of vitamin C per day for the subsequent
01:47 2-3 months, actually it's shown to increase the number of sperm quality by 92-100%.
01:54 So double the amount of quality in terms of the number, the motility and also the morphology.
02:02 Apart from that, what other things are available?
02:06 In fact, it's a simple thing such as vitamin D. So if you get into the sun a lot more often
02:11 or actually eat food that actually contains more vitamin D such as oily fish and cereal,
02:18 you'll notice that the sperm quality will enhance.
02:22 And lastly, other things such as broccoli and also cabbages, all these contain minerals
02:29 that are crucial in order to make spermatogenesis a little bit more sufficient for you to produce
02:35 that dragon baby.
02:37 For the subsequent week of Putting Dr G on the Spot, we want to deal with somebody instead
02:43 of getting low sperm count or normal sperm count but want to enhance it. Some people
02:50 are unfortunate enough to get no sperm count. It's a condition called azoospermia. If you
02:55 suffer from that, then stay tuned for next week's Putting Dr G on the Spot.
