00:00 One again for being here we have coach Campbell
00:02 Well
00:15 Texas has a really good ballclub. They kind of have they got it all they got size
00:20 Athletic ability and depth and guard so they're a really good ballclub problem our team for competing and fighting
00:26 Especially the first half we were able to kind of junk it up a little bit and keep it close
00:30 And kind of kept the tempo in our favor and credit Texas for coming out in the third quarter
00:37 It really flex their muscle
00:41 They really did pounded the ball inside pounded us on the glass and we weren't able to recover and so
00:47 This group though. I'm really proud of them. They're giving us everything they got they're competing
00:54 We got to do a better job taking care of the ball the last two games we've struggled to hit shots
00:59 But that's the hand we're dealt we got to shoot a lot of threes
01:02 We got to make threes in order to stay in these ball games. It is what it is
01:06 Right now there is there is no other option and so this group will keep working which they have this whole time and and
01:14 We got a quick turnaround with West Virginia on Tuesday
01:18 You mentioned the shooting meal shot under 30% for the whole game with it just shot selection or just shots not falling
01:24 What do you feel like kind of resulted in that?
01:26 Yeah at Oklahoma
01:29 We had a whole bunch of good shots this game. I think their athletic ability
01:34 their pressure
01:36 Sped us up. I didn't and we didn't that first half though. We have a lot of good ones second half
01:42 We were really sped up
01:43 We needed to hit some of those shots in the first half that we had really good looks at
01:47 But credit, Texas they fly around and pressure you and speed you up
01:50 Was it Texas's size that kind of I know y'all like to shoot a lot of threes
01:56 But it seemed like it was hard to penetrate and get into the lane today. Was that because of their size?
02:00 Yeah, they're big and athletic
02:02 It was hard to turn the corner on them and or create an advantage that ultimately offensively you got to get a five on four
02:10 Three on four you create for each other and we've done a great job
02:14 Sharing the ball. I think we only have 11 assists today, which is
02:18 Texas was a big reason why
02:21 You know, it seems that
02:23 These last couple of weeks
02:25 Y'all been able to stay in games until you know
02:28 The third quarter into the third and then they kind of pull away is that because of the lack of depth on the team
02:34 No question. No question. I would say, you know, Central, Florida
02:39 Kansas, Texas Tech those games came down last four minutes of the ballgame in all of those
02:45 Oklahoma we ran out of gas
02:47 In the fourth quarter and then tonight we didn't run out of gas
02:51 Texas came out in that third quarter and imposed their will on us and we weren't able to recover
02:56 You guys as our program grows. That's what good teams do
03:00 It is it's the mark of a really good ball clubs you come out at halftime
03:05 and you execute and you flex your muscle and
03:09 We were not there yet, you know, that's part of building a program and
03:14 Maturing as a team
03:18 In a game like this. What do you feel like for you personally as a team you guys learn?
03:22 From eating like this. We're kind of that third quarter got away from you guys a little bit. Um, I would say definitely
03:28 How important things like offensive rebounds are for the other team and a lot of those?
03:34 It's just little controllable things on defense that we didn't do that really let them get easy baskets
03:40 And this stuff like these games really shows how much that stuff matters and also
03:46 You know
03:47 they're trying to pressure us and speed us up on when we're on offense and this is just a good learning experience for us to
03:53 you know, we can't pick the ball up and then
03:57 Get stuck stuff like that and just be a no more attack mode and not so defensive
04:02 (no audio)
04:04 Coach for you a game like this what's kind of your message to the team that you know after a game like this and like you
04:17 said the
04:18 First four kind of the stretch were tight and this one just didn't kind of go that way
04:22 Yeah
04:22 Our they have a thing in the locker room before the season started that on a piece of paper
04:28 That's taped up there on each of the lockers. It says process over outcome
04:32 And that doesn't change whether you're 14 to know to start a season
04:36 or whether you're 0-14 and
04:39 you've got to stick with the process and
04:42 You keep showing up you keep working hard. I think I talked about this before sometimes
04:48 You don't always get rewarded in life for working hard. That's reality
04:53 unfortunately, there's two teams that want to win only one does and
04:57 So all I know is that hard work doesn't guarantee you'll get a win, but if you don't work hard you got no chance
05:04 You have no chance. So the message is I'm proud of this group
05:07 Tonight we didn't play very good and Texas gets a lot of credit for that
05:12 But our groups fighting and they're competing that that I have no issue with and so we're not playing good enough
05:19 Basketball to get a win, but it's not for lack of effort lack of trying and so and I know this group will show up
05:25 Tomorrow we got a quick turnaround. They're gonna lock in and have a good practice
05:29 They're gonna have a good practice on Monday. We got a heck of a team coming in here, West Virginia
05:34 that's going to get after us and
05:36 And so this team they're gonna keep chipping away and and they know on the back end of this we got Madison and Sedona
05:42 That's going to join us and so we know there's help coming
05:45 And so we just got to keep keep fighting you guys and they will
05:51 For Tara and Una have you been able to keep your confidence up during this kind of tough stretch basketball?
05:57 Ultimately I think it's just controlling what you can control
06:03 You know just being a fifth year like I've gone through a lot of ups and downs in my college career
06:08 And I think just leaning on your teammates, you know, the injured ones were leaning on them, they're leaning on us
06:13 You know, it goes hand in hand
06:16 Just yeah being receptive to coaching just you know growing from all these challenges
06:21 Yeah, I would agree with that like leaning on teammates and just understanding what needs to be done
06:27 Like there's always games. There's a lot of games to be played and focusing on that
06:30 Like what do we need to do to get this win out?
06:33 I think there's I think all of us are doing a good job of having a good
06:36 Mindset and like no one has their head down and that's very important
06:40 You know coach. What do you think of that?
06:43 You know that the locker room hasn't fractured that these girls are still you know
06:47 You know the chemistry still strong even you know through this rough stretch. Yeah, first of all, they're just awesome kids
06:54 They really truly are and they enjoy each other
06:58 I think you could see that you've seen that all season during the good times
07:03 They celebrated for each other's successes and right now we're having a tough stretch and they're locked in and still great teammates
07:09 But they have an awesome locker room. They have a great it's a great group
07:13 And there's good leadership there, even though some players are injured
07:16 We've always had great leadership from from a lot of 50 or seniors
07:23 You know, there's some old veterans in there that have been through the wars of college basketball
07:27 And so it's a credit to this group. It really is. There's a great foundation that's here that we're going to be able to build upon
07:34 I know we talk about her every game, but Agnes really seemed to keep building that game, especially the first half
07:40 Especially on the offensive glass. Can you just talk about her game tonight?
07:45 Man, she empties her tank every game. She gives you everything she's got
07:49 She needed one more rebound for a double-double. She fouls out
07:54 The foul in Alaska, she's a stinking warrior and she's in the fight and she's scrapping and 50/50 balls
08:01 Agnes is one of the kids that gets a hundred percent of the 50/50 balls. I swear
08:07 And so she's been the backbone of our program all season
08:11 It's evident
08:13 With how hard she plays each night
08:15 And honestly, we need some more kids that play as hard as Agnes does and
08:22 And she's a kid that leads by example
08:25 She's a lady with few words
08:28 Not a big talker, but her example, her work ethic, her toughness
08:33 speaks plenty loud
08:37 You know Tuesday's play for K game here at TCU, what does that foundation mean to you?
08:44 Yeah, I mean it's over it spread over college basketball. It's one of the most powerful things to bring awareness to cancer
08:52 It's really cool and it's been around for years and it's just grown
08:55 to the point that teams are wearing pink uniforms and pink shoes and
09:00 It just brings a bright
09:03 spotlight to cancer awareness and
09:06 The KEL Foundation, obviously she's one of the legends in our game
09:12 And so that's something that's really special
09:15 And it impacts, I mean I bet you everyone in this room has someone that's been impacted
09:22 by that in some way or shape or form and so
09:26 It's probably a really in college basketball the most publicized
09:34 game in the country every year, and it's really cool
09:38 Anything else for these three?
09:40 Good.
09:42 Alright, thanks everyone.
09:44 Thank you guys.
