Shannon Sharpe From Super Bowl Radio Row
Transcript
00:00 What's up everybody, it's Bryce Butler. I got Shannon Sharp, Uncle Shayshay, Club Shayshay,
00:05 Nightcap in the building. How you doing man? Man, I'm doing great, great. It's great to be back in
00:12 the city again. I'm so excited for Vegas to get an opportunity to host the Super Bowl and everybody
00:16 is buzzing. You know what Vegas is like on the weekend, so in any big event. But now when you
00:22 add your 10 exit and by bringing the Super Bowl and probably additional million people in, it's
00:26 going to be crazy. But I'm super excited for the city of Las Vegas and the NFL because the NFL
00:32 puts on an extravaganza like nobody else. It's the biggest sporting event in North America and
00:36 they do a great job and it gets bigger and better every year. Yeah, so Shannon, let's hop over to
00:41 you real quick. Let's get off the Super Bowl for a second, okay? You've been killing it all over
00:46 social media doing your thing. Let's talk about Cat Williams for a minute. How has everything
00:50 changed for you, elevated, whatever, since Cat Williams came to Club Shayshay? Well, he definitely
00:56 told me he was going to put me in a different stratosphere than it has. We're at over 57 million
01:01 views. There haven't been a whole lot of interviews, sit-down conversations that's hit that number.
01:07 And so for my team, Club Shayshay, the volume, CJ, my producer, and everybody behind the scenes
01:15 for us to reach that magic number. But for me, my job is easy and I think a lot of
01:20 mistakes that people make that have platforms, they want to hear their own voice. When a guest
01:25 comes on my platform, obviously the viewing audience and the listening audience,
01:31 they want to hear that guest. So I let the guest talk. I don't try to push them in any particular
01:35 way. I don't try to coax them. And we're having a conversation. And what I tell my listener,
01:41 what I tell the viewing listener or the viewing audience or the listener is that, look, if you
01:47 want a 60 minutes interview, 60 minutes is still on. I'll watch 60 minutes. If you want
01:52 Dateline, you want 48 hours, those platforms are available. But if you want to have someone,
01:56 if you want to listen to an interview or conversation where someone is expressing
02:00 things that you probably never heard about that person, well, this is the place that you come to.
02:05 So Cat was unbelievable. I still remain in contact with Cat. He's probably one of the few guests
02:10 that I still, obviously, Earthquake's been on and I still talk to Earthquake. Steve Harvey's been on
02:15 and I occasionally talk to Steve or shoot him a text message. But Cat definitely put Club Shay-Shay
02:21 in a different space. And since that happened, there've been so many people that have reached
02:26 out wanting to come on. So I really appreciate what he's been able to do. And hopefully it's
02:32 been reciprocated by having sold out shows. I see they've added a couple of tour dates,
02:37 but Cat has been unbelievable. He's an unbelievable guy. And I really appreciate
02:40 his time and opportunity. But I had been working on Cat for almost a year. Yeah, I reached out to
02:46 him at the end of 2022. And it wasn't until the end of 23 that we're able to make it happen.
02:51 And I'm glad we were able to make YouTube and digital history. I think we all because, man,
02:57 that is so explosive. I'm sure it seemed like half the stuff he was saying while you were sitting
03:03 there had your stomach dropping. Come on, Cat. Well, me, look, I'm not in that world. I'm not
03:08 in that space. So a lot of what I'm hearing is for the very first time. And so I'm sure some of
03:14 what he was saying to the audience, they were hearing for the very first time. And I think
03:19 it was a lot about what he was saying, but it was also about who he was saying it about.
03:25 So a lot of these people, they're big, big, big A-list names. A lot of these people
03:33 in television and radio and they dominate their world, their space. And to have him say that,
03:40 yeah, I'm sure it caught a lot of people off guard. But my job is not to say, well,
03:44 Cat, that's a lie or Cat, this is that. This is your opportunity. Because sometimes some of the
03:48 guys like I had at Den of Train on, I had Steve Harvey on, I had Ricky Smiley on. So some of the
03:53 guys, some of the things that he was saying, he was refuting what they were saying. And so it's
03:59 not my job to determine who's lying or who's telling the truth. I have an audience that
04:03 listens. I have an audience that watch through YouTube or audience that listened through Spotify
04:09 and Apple. So I'll let you determine, I'll let you decide who you want to believe. And then
04:13 I move on to the next. - Before we get into football, it was just in that you and your
04:18 guy, Steven A. Smith, are gonna be coaching a basketball game next week. What can we expect
04:23 to see next week with you guys coaching? - You can expect my team to win. That's all I care
04:26 about. I care about the win. Look, I want the members, the team members to have a good time,
04:33 but there's nothing, you have no better time than when you win. And so that's gonna be my
04:38 message to the team. Look, I want everybody to have a good time. I wish everybody can score 40
04:42 points, but we're gonna feed the hot man. So whoever has it going, hey, yeah, man, we gonna
04:48 have somebody about to have a Luka or a Joel Embiid moment, about to have a 70 piece. 'Cause
04:54 whoever's hot, they're gonna get the ball. We're gonna run back picks, we're gonna run pin downs,
04:57 we're gonna run flares. We're gonna do everything we possibly can. We're gonna do four out. We're
05:02 gonna do everything we can to make sure that person keeps it going and we win the game.
05:07 - Okay. All right, Hall of Fame tight end right here to my left, Travis Kelsey. Do you say he
05:11 goes down as one of the top when he's done? - Well, right now for me, he's the GOAT. I mean,
05:15 you base it on what he's been able to do, the longevity that in which he's enjoyed.
05:19 He has the most playoff catches. He and Patrick has the most touchdowns between the duo. And you
05:26 look at the consistency, the thousand yard game, the year in, the year out, the consistency. It's
05:31 just hard for me to say somebody has done it as good, as long as Trav. So for me, and that's no
05:37 knock on any of the other greats. Obviously, we know what Gronk has done. He's a four-time Super
05:42 Bowl champ. He's a multiple time All-Pro, big time in the playoff game, but Travis Kelsey can
05:48 match him stat for stat, number for number, yard for yard. So for my money, it's Trav. I got Trav
05:55 one and Gronk two. - Okay. Hey, talk to us about your game day ad that you shot with Oikos featuring
06:00 Marlon Lawrence. - That is amazing. You know, when Oikos reached out to me and asked me would I be
06:06 interested, obviously I was interested because I understand a company of this magnitude. They
06:11 have their, they could have their pick of celebs, athletes, ex-athletes, current athletes, entertainers.
06:16 And for them to choose me, I was humbled and I was honored. But then they told me who I was
06:21 going to be paired with. I mean, we're talking about Martin Lawrence, one of the great stand-ups
06:25 of his generation, of any generation. We know the Martin sitcom and we know he's an A-list celeb as
06:31 far as Hollywood. And so for me to get an opportunity to have a big game spot, to say the least, that was,
06:38 yeah, oh yeah, absolutely. I'm going to do that. But to get an opportunity to see up close, to see
06:43 greatness. And you know, greatness comes in many forms and a lot of times we just think of greatness
06:47 when it comes to sports. But I believe greatness is greatness no matter what the profession, no
06:52 matter what the field. And an opportunity to get an opportunity to see Martin up close in the Oikos
06:57 spot, the Oikos spot, it was amazing to see how he just like, he's just like so chill. And then when
07:04 they say action, he can just turn it on at the blink of an eye. And I've done work with Oikos before.
07:12 Yeah. And so, and for them with the Oikos Pro and the Oikos Triple Zero, and now with the HBCUs,
07:19 we all already understand the HBCUs are underfunded, under-resourced. And for them to go
07:24 back and try to make sure that they're not left behind as far as providing quality nutrition and
07:30 health. And for me personally, because I shoot 10 shows a week between nightcap, Club Chez Chez,
07:36 and first take on ESPN, I shoot about 10 shows a week. And so when I have an opportunity,
07:42 because I don't get an opportunity to sit down and eat a full meal. So I need something that's
07:45 jam-packed with protein, obviously being an ex-athlete, being a dad, being 55 on top of that.
07:52 So I need as much quality protein as I can get. And so I am so glad that Oikos asked me to be a
07:59 part of this spot, to have this spot in the big game and team up with Martin. And the fact that
08:05 they're really giving back to HBCUs to make sure they have quality nutrition is something near and
08:10 dear to my heart. - That's huge, that's huge. Well, Shannon, man, we got Shannon, Hall of Fame,
08:15 Hall of Fame media doing everything, still swole, still got stick knives in his body.
08:19 We'll talk to y'all later, man. I appreciate you, Shannon. - Thanks, man.
08:21 Thanks for having me on, bro.
08:22 Yes, sir.
08:23 Yes, sir.
