A former Catholic school student says she feels “empowered” working for an all-female porn production company - after never getting any sex education.
Cat Gately, 30, says she had to rely on her mum to “fill in the blanks” growing up, which inspired her to become a remote sex educator herself.
She taught for free on social media and Zoom before she saw a social media marketer vacancy for Ersties - a small, woman-led porn production company - and decided to go for it.

00:56 like my followers, a lot of their concerns and interests were able to be kind of pulled into
01:02 this new work of mine. We mainly create, I would call it kind of amateur stuff. It's like,
01:08 it's not scripted. It's not about having this like very porny kind of sex. We try to make it as
01:14 real and as natural as possible. A big way that we focus on trying to make that happen is our
01:21 interaction and our kind of like direction is as minimal as possible. So we really try to create a
01:27 space on set where performers feel very comfortable. It's kind of like real sex with a bit of extra,
01:34 a bit of extra production value. I think when you see people that look like you, that you relate to,
01:41 that are having just like, are authentically expressing their sexuality, that alone is so
01:46 empowering and I think everybody can benefit from that. I mean, it's such a huge area that I think
01:50 everyone should know about and I think actually porn has a great opportunity to teach people about
01:55 consent. So I think it's actually something I'm really happy to be part of.
