00:13 In a major streaming deal, Raw will leave USA Network for Netflix beginning in January of 2025,
00:20 with the streaming giant also set to become the international home for the WWE's full
00:24 slate of live events including Smackdown and WrestleMania. The deal, which is valued at about
00:29 $5 billion, marks Netflix's expansion into live events. It will now stream Raw live every Monday
00:36 night in the US, Canada, UK and Latin America, with other territories to be added. This is a
00:41 big win for WWE and UFC owner TKO, who also just announced that former WWE star Dwayne Johnson
00:49 would be joining its board of directors. In addition, the company is granting Johnson full
00:53 ownership of his trademark name The Rock, with the actor and entrepreneur inking an agreement
00:58 with the company, which gives Johnson a stock award valued at $30 million, while still being
01:03 able to collect royalties in connection with sales of The Rock merchandise. As for Netflix's interest
01:08 into the live space, the streamer has so far only occasionally dabbled in live events like the Chris
01:14 Rock stand-up comedy special or an attempt at the Love is Blind reunion special, which was filled
01:18 with technical difficulties and eventually taped. For more on this move and Netflix's foray into
01:24 live sports programming, head to the article on THR.com. And for the latest entertainment
01:29 news and updates, keep watching The Hollywood Reporter News.
