00:00 Is Braun Breaker WWE's next megastar?
00:03 Can his action figure come to life physique and second generation pro wrestling pedigree
00:08 rocket him to WWE's main event scene?
00:12 We think he has something to become WWE's next big thing.
00:17 Yeah, we're going there.
00:19 I'm Kevin, this is Sportskeeda Wrestling.
00:22 Tell us who you think is WWE's next big breakout superstar that we don't see coming.
00:29 Your comments are right down there.
00:30 This is a big claim to make about Braun Breaker, but let's explain why and where he got going.
00:35 Braun Breaker was only wrestling a few months before he was signed to WWE, and less than
00:41 a year after his pro wrestling debut, he became WWE NXT champion.
00:46 He even has the background that many all-time great pro wrestlers have had, a shot at pro
00:51 football before they took on pro wrestling.
00:54 And even calling his shot unsuccessful is a stretch.
00:57 He's a guy who actually made it to the NFL playing for the Baltimore Ravens.
01:01 And sure, he went in as an undrafted pick who was quickly released, but most aspiring
01:06 football players don't even make it that far.
01:08 You won't have many people in any pro wrestling promotion that get to have this type of debut
01:12 year, and they've hardly wrestled for a few months on top of that.
01:16 Hell, there have been veterans who labored for the opportunity to get into NXT and never
01:22 got as much TV time as Braun has gotten.
01:24 And you can credit the fact that Braun Breaker also came in with the pedigree.
01:28 Yeah, he is the son of Rick Steiner, the nephew of Scott Steiner, the Steiner Brothers.
01:34 Yeah, one of the greatest tag teams of all time.
01:37 WWE has fondly been doing this for generations now, taking in second and third generation
01:43 superstars.
01:44 Look at Ava Rain, the daughter of The Rock, who's also in WWE NXT right now.
01:49 Braun Breaker just happens to be one of those rare guys who's been around wrestling his
01:53 whole life, also was around pro football, and can absorb information very quickly.
01:59 And oh yeah, he looks like a He-Man action figure came to life.
02:03 There's a reason we said that at the beginning of the video.
02:06 For all the criticism WWE gets, they rarely ever put superstars on TV if they're not ready
02:11 for it.
02:12 Braun Breaker, despite only having that limited time in wrestling, has truly eaten it up.
02:19 And around this time, when WWE made some drastic changes to NXT, making it less of an independent
02:26 wrestling all-star showcase, and more something that truly focuses on developing new, younger
02:31 superstars in NXT 2.0, Braun Breaker was the right guy at the right time.
02:37 This new NXT was mainly going to feature early to mid-20s age superstars, and take a rather
02:43 raunchier, edgier programming route in comparison to Raw and Smackdown.
02:47 We're not going to crap all over NXT 2.0, it was actually pretty fun and refreshing,
02:52 but it just wasn't as good as black and gold in the eyes of many.
02:55 It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was a well-timed and circumstantially needed change.
03:02 Braun Breaker was the first person to directly benefit from this, going on a steam roll through
03:08 the roster and becoming the top guy within less than four months of his very first bell
03:14 to bell match.
03:15 It was clearly early on that he was groomed to be the next big thing.
03:21 For the better part of the year, he was the face of NXT, a valiant, bustle-bound hero
03:27 until he lost the title to the conniving Carmelo Hayes.
03:31 Yes, and quickly became THE bad guy in NXT.
03:36 It's impressive to be a two-time NXT champion in such a short period, even though he's
03:40 only been in wrestling for about two years.
03:43 It already feels like his time in NXT is coming to an end.
03:46 He's constantly one of those guys that fans are talking about as a call-up superstar to
03:51 Raw or Smackdown.
03:53 Braun Breaker has main roster written all over him.
03:57 He may have lost a bit of a push after losing the NXT title, but he's done some advanced
04:02 things with his character, becoming much more of a dynamic player and not just a human wrecking
04:07 ball.
04:08 You need layers to your nacho dip when you get up to WWE with your chip.
04:13 In reality, there really isn't much left for Braun Breaker to do in NXT.
04:18 Even putting the North American title on him and pairing him with someone else wouldn't
04:22 feel as impactful.
04:23 He's got that Lone Wolf vibe to him.
04:25 Yeah, he's like Baron Corbin or not-bumass Corbin or whatever Pat McAfee would say.
04:30 He's calling himself a badass, a badass who got to tangle with The Undertaker in a
04:35 premium slot on NXT when it was head-to-head with AEW.
04:40 When you're put in those positions, WWE is doing something special with you in the future.
04:45 He's got all the tools he needs.
04:47 He's young, he's a second-generation wrestler, he's got a great look.
04:51 Yeah, you'll turn your head when you see him at the airport and a presence that we haven't
04:55 seen in a young talent since, yeah, Brock Lesnar.
04:59 We're not going to compare him to Lesnar, but who wouldn't want to see that?
05:02 Yeah, we're bringing it up again.
05:04 It might be a bit late if Brock Lesnar decides to call it quits, but let's just hope, absolutely
05:09 freaking hope we get some Braun Brock action at some point.
05:14 So when is he going to make the big move up to the main roster?
05:18 He would slot in perfectly as the Raw breakout superstar to debut after WrestleMania.
05:22 Rather than just putting him in a generic squash match to introduce him, he could debut
05:27 in a completely destroying manner, establishing a main event name.
05:30 There's been an established pattern that fans will buy into with a monster making their
05:35 mark after Mania.
05:37 Umaga did it in the mid-2000s, other big names have done it as well.
05:41 Now it's Braun's turn.
05:43 And just like in NXT, Braun Breaker can benefit from being the right guy in the right place
05:49 at the right time.
05:50 What do you expect from Braun Breaker in the future?
05:53 Let us know in the comments below.
