00:00 What is going on here? What wound up happening? And what's next for both Marino and for Roma?
00:09 The real shock actually, I was really surprised by this decision, obviously take into account
00:17 the great success that Marino's had at Roma, obviously, they won the Conference League
00:22 a couple of years ago, which is the new European competition. And it was their first piece
00:26 of silverware in I think 15, 11 or 15, I can't actually remember the exact dates right now,
00:31 but in 15 years, I think, which says a lot, you know, they sort of, he sort of restored
00:36 the Italian side to European glory, which is something that they hadn't even tasted
00:41 over the past few years. So he has a really special place in Roma fans' hearts.
00:47 Obviously, he also reached the final of the Europa League, which is the second tier
00:51 European competition over here in Europe, and narrowly missed out on penalties.
00:56 So I think you can qualify this stint, or his two and a half years at Roma as a great success,
01:03 reaching two European finals, obviously winning one. So in that sense, I think it really surprised
01:10 both journalists and fans alike, you know, this decision to get rid of him.
01:15 Ultimately, I do think, Dane, that it was their heavy loss in the cup to Lazio,
01:21 which are their big city rivals, which obviously means they were out of the cup.
01:26 And they're having a difficult time in the league as well, obviously, in their recent game,
01:30 they lost 3-1 to AC Milan, which was a big blow, you know, direct rival for top four,
01:37 even top five. So I think those were the sort of the exacerbating factors,
01:42 if you like, in the decision to remove Mourinho. And we have seen, to be fair,
01:47 you know, Mourinho over the past sort of 10 years in his recent clubs, it's a three-year cycle.
01:53 It's a three-year cycle. We saw it at Manchester United, the third season,
01:57 things started to go badly. We saw it at Tottenham in the third season, things started to go badly again.
02:04 And we've seen it again in Roma. We've seen it again at Roma, the third season,
02:08 you know, the players start to maybe lose confidence in the message,
02:12 because ultimately the tactics haven't changed for a very, very long time.
02:16 So once the message doesn't arrive, then you have a problem.
02:19 So it'll be interesting to see where Mourinho goes now, where will be his next destination,
02:25 which club could be a potential suitor for him.
02:27 So it's a bit of a crossroads for Mourinho now in his career, I'd say.
02:32 Yeah.
