00:00Now let's go back to injuries and Manchester City. This ACL flag that's going around some of the top
00:10clubs in Europe, Rodri Ter Stegen, Eder Militao, what do you think?
00:15I mean, too many games, man. The intensity of the games, the fact that the players don't have
00:21vacations anymore. You know, so many tournaments that we want to see as fans and not too much
00:27time for them to rest. And I know that they get paid well, but come on, they also need some rest.
00:32We've seen Real Madrid make 16 injuries in this season. It's crazy. It's insane. And you go to
00:38any league with Chivas or Olajara, we have like 12 injuries, you know, in the season. So it's been,
00:43I think that they have to take into consideration the calendars because it's crazy, man. It's crazy.
00:49Marcelino, I talked to a former NFL player, a good friend of mine, who told me that sometimes
00:53coaches, when things are not going well and when they need results, they're going to say,
00:58OK, you know what? I extended our training session from one hour to two hours because they need to
01:03show ownership that on executives that they're trying to bring some results in. Sometimes not the
01:07best formula for the players because that ends up in an overload, not only from that heavy calendar,
01:12but also from this heavy duty during training. What is your take?
01:19Some stats for you guys to have context is the amount of miles per game has not shifted a lot in
01:26the last 20 years is about the same. But the intensity of that, you know, now we're expecting
01:31these top players to run 36 miles per hour or consistently 10, 20 sprints per game. These joints
01:38can only hold so much, right? They also were looking at calendars that include 80 games.
01:43Some of these players like Rodri, they are, you know, best player in the world by long they are
01:48quintessential to their to their team operation. But also that means that he needs to play three
01:52times a week. Sometimes he has to go in a month playing 12 times. That's about just in broad
01:58strokes. If they run in between eight and 10 miles per game, we're looking at 50 miles a week plus
02:05training of high intensity work. I challenge any marathon runner to to, you know, to to match those
02:12miles at that speed, that intensity with lateral movements of the knee changing the speed. I think
02:17that it's a moment that we have to reckon with. Like you said, it's great to have international
02:21football in the in the summer and having more and more tournaments to watch our favorite
02:26players, but also we have to give them a break.
