00:00 Get like a little spin of the outfit.
00:02 Yeah, just a little bit.
00:03 It's all about our style.
00:04 It's dumb and dumber, but make it gay-ety, frankly.
00:07 Right, right. I love that. Perfect.
00:10 So what does it mean to you to be standing on a carpet and really talking about this film
00:14 with everything going on in the world right now?
00:16 I mean, it's crazy.
00:18 We only found out a week ago that we got an interim agreement.
00:22 And, you know, it's just, we feel lucky that a little company like A24 can make a deal with the union
00:28 and meet their terms even when trillion-dollar tech companies won't.
00:31 Yes.
00:32 So...
00:33 And what are you hoping audiences take away from a movie like this?
00:37 We hope they say it's the funniest movie they've ever seen and they take all their friends and come back.
00:41 I hope they're like, "I ain't never seen something like that in the theaters."
00:44 And then they rally all their friends and go back and see it again.
00:47 It is a movie for you to go with a big crowd and sort of scream at.
00:51 You know what I mean?
00:52 Yeah, clap.
00:53 So we're hoping it feels very communal and crazy.
00:55 Encouraging, you know, theaters to talk and go against all etiquette.
00:59 You were just saying, you know, it premiered in Toronto as a midnight movie.
01:02 And it was so fun.
01:03 No matter what time you see it, just go with the midnight mindset.
01:06 You know?
01:07 Have a cocktail.
01:08 Have fun with your girls.
01:10 Yeah.
01:11 Scream, clap, sing along.
01:12 You're not going to applaud when Meg Mastanian comes on the screen?
01:15 You know what I'm saying.
01:16 You got it.
01:17 I have to talk about her.
01:18 I mean, how was it working alongside her?
01:21 As we've been saying, there's not any really jokes here.
01:23 It was just amazing.
01:24 She was so cool, so fun, so dope.
01:26 And she's very good at singing, dancing, and rapping.
01:29 So I think she should stick with that.
01:31 She's incredible at that.
01:32 She's got something there.
01:33 Also funny.
01:34 She's really funny.
01:35 Yeah, she was really funny.
01:36 So truly, we have no jokes.
01:37 We just like her.
01:38 We just fully have a crush on her.
01:39 [laughter]
01:40 Yeah.
01:41 I know.
01:42 I know.
01:43 Do you have a quote that you think people will really take away
01:46 and be quoting for a long time after they see this?
01:48 A quote from the movie that people will take away.
01:51 I mean, all love is love.
01:52 All love is love.
01:53 Yeah.
01:54 There's a lot.
01:55 I don't want to put any--
01:56 Yeah, we don't spoil anything.
01:57 I want the audience to find their own quotes.
01:58 You know what I mean?
01:59 I don't want to shoehorn them into liking one line.
02:00 Right.
02:01 I agree.
02:02 I want people to find it for themselves.
02:04 [laughter]
02:06 And I have to ask, I mean, this is a very queer indie film,
02:09 but the two leads are straight, right?
02:11 Right.
02:12 So, like, why was that?
02:13 What was the choice?
02:14 We always call it straight guy drag.
02:16 Like, in the way that a drag queen is sort of performing
02:18 in a big way what being a woman is,
02:20 we are sort of two gay guys doing that to straight guys.
02:23 Straight guy drag.
02:24 Yeah, so we're really doing straight guy drag.
02:26 Representation matters.
02:27 It's time to see more straight men on the screen.
02:29 [laughter]
02:30 At last.
02:31 We wanted to bring those characters to life.
02:33 Is there anything else you want to say to audiences
02:36 on why they should see this movie?
02:38 Come have a riot October 6th.
02:41 You're going to have a great time.
02:42 Get wet, get wild.
02:43 Yeah.
02:44 [music]
02:45 (upbeat music)
