00:00 In the midst of the tension in the West Philippine Sea, 4 out of 5 Filipinos chose America to help our country.

00:07 This is based on the results of the Pulse Asia survey conducted last December.

00:14 The AFP has included America, Australia and Japan in the military exercise.

00:23 Now, they are also the top 3 countries among the Philippines who are helping their country

00:30 in the face of the tension in China in the West Philippine Sea, according to the Pulse Asia survey

00:35 commissioned by the International Think Tank, the Stratbase Institute.

00:39 And it is expected that the tensions will be almost the same this December.

00:44 Out of the 10 countries that can be selected from the survey that is expected,

00:47 almost 80 percent or 4 out of 5 countries selected America.

00:56 It was followed by Australia and Japan.

00:58 This was not surprised by Maritime Security Analyst and UP Professor J. Batong Bacal.

01:04 Even during the time of President Duterte, that trend did not become a trend.

01:10 Especially now that we see that China is getting more and more involved.

01:15 They are the countries that are showing support and helping to ease the tension.

01:21 Last year, the Philippines and Australia strengthened the partnership that is included in the military cooperation.

01:28 The Philippines and Japan signed the Reciprocal Access Agreement this year.

01:35 It is a partnership that will guide the military cooperation and joint military exercises of the two countries.

01:41 But even Canada will have defense cooperation with the Philippines.

01:46 They support our stand with the arbitral award.

01:50 Before this, it was revealed in the first Octa Research Survey that almost three out of five respondents

01:57 favor the diplomatic and military approach of the administration to protect the rights of the country in the West Philippine Sea.

02:05 It is more than 15 points higher than the survey conducted in the second quarter of 2023.

02:10 And it is just the next step of the revelations of the media about China's involvement in the resupply mission

02:18 to the BRP Sierra Madre in Ayungin Shoal, which is inside the exclusive economic zone of the country.
