00:00 Hi, my name is Miles, I'm 32, based in Leeds and I'm about to go on the Gladiators.
00:05 Can you just tell me how it came about?
00:07 How the process was, why you decided to apply?
00:12 The reason why I applied on Gladiators, it was just my all-time biggest show.
00:18 When I was a kid, back in the 90s, it was Saturday night TV, you know what I mean?
00:24 That was my thing to do, you know what I mean?
00:26 And where did you see the opportunity to apply?
00:29 I saw casting for the Gladiators on social media, quite strangely.
00:36 Actually, someone did forward it over to me and I thought, this is the time to do it.
00:42 Because since I was a kid, I always thought if I was of age back in the day, I would have
00:48 been on the show.
00:49 So, yeah, it would have been great for me to do that.
00:52 You must have been thrilled to have been accepted.
00:54 Sorry, mate.
00:55 You're alright.
00:56 You're alright.
00:57 We can edit it, it'll all be edited out anyway.
01:01 Oh, would it?
01:02 Yeah, yeah, it's fine.
01:03 I was a bit conscious, I didn't want it to just be a complete demo.
01:08 Sorry.
01:09 Miles, you must have been thrilled to have been successful with your application and
01:14 get through the process.
01:16 Yeah, my application going through and getting to be on the show is absolute madness.
01:23 I never thought it would even happen.
01:26 Pretty much at first, I thought it was going to be a bit of a joke, like, oh, did we just
01:29 see how far I'd get through?
01:31 And then I made it to one of the last ten male contestants on the show.
01:39 So yeah, pretty much looking forward to it.
01:42 And without giving any spoilers, obviously, can you just tell us about your experience
01:46 on the show, how much you enjoyed it, or even didn't enjoy it?
01:51 The show was absolutely amazing.
01:54 Just expect the same original, 90s nostalgic feel.
01:59 They wanted it exactly how it was back in the day, and they did an excellent job.
02:05 You'll love it.
02:07 You're on the first one.
02:09 Is that a thrill that you're on the first one of the new series?
02:12 It's a bit of a surprise I'm on the first episode, to be honest.
02:17 But if you want all the drama and excitement, yeah, that's what you've got to give to bring
02:23 it back after 15 years.
02:26 And with the gladiators, how did they treat you?
02:28 And have you got any particular favorites?
02:31 The gladiators are great guys.
02:34 Even though they put all their power into the show and put up a good fight competition,
02:40 yeah, it's been a great experience.
02:43 My favorite, I'd say, is Viper.
02:48 Yeah, I like him.
02:50 He's like the new villain, the new wolf.
02:53 Yeah, he's really entertaining.
02:54 I love it.
02:55 And how much prep did you put into for the show?
02:58 Are you someone that frequents the gym quite often?
03:02 I did quite a bit of prep.
03:05 They did put us through a bit of a training program.
03:08 I do go to the gym probably about three, four times a week.
03:12 Maybe I should do a bit more.
03:14 Do the Thai boxing on the side.
03:16 But yeah, I always try to keep fit, religiously.
03:19 That's my thing I love.
03:21 And if anyone was to think about applying and do it, what would your advice be?
03:27 I'd say if you've got the chance to apply to get on the show, do it.
03:31 You know what I mean?
03:32 It's the best experience you'll ever have in your life.
03:35 And to be part of an iconic show is just amazing.
