00:45 According to the LTFRB, almost half of the jeepneys in Metro Manila

00:52 did not file for consolidation to join or form a cooperative.

00:56 This means that of the 42,180 jeeps in Metro Manila,

01:00 20,525 jeeps will not be able to travel starting February 1.

01:05 40.67% did not consolidate to become a UVExpress.

01:10 Despite that, the LTFRB said there is enough public vehicles for the passengers.

01:16 "There is supply. These are short routes that can be covered by other redundant public transport in the road that is being used."

01:27 Piston said, why is the cooperative being forced to split into associations?

01:33 They will be forced to buy modern jeeps that they will pay in debt.

01:38 "The association is considered a consolidation.

01:42 Because there are different operators, they joined the association. Why don't they know each other?"

01:46 House Speaker Martin Romualdez appealed to the DOTR to review the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program

01:53 and adjust its implementation.

01:56 Chofilo Guadis III, the head of the DOTR, refused to give a statement.

01:59 We also asked the Department of Transportation to give a statement, but they have not yet given a response.

02:04 Romualdez also ordered the House Committee on Transportation to investigate

02:08 the official's decision to buy imported modern jeeps from cooperatives.

02:14 The LTFRB and DOTR said the government's role is to draft the specifications of the modern jeep.

02:20 There are 54 manufacturers that can be selected.

02:23 The cooperatives will decide which one to buy.

02:27 Our design is not limited.

02:30 As long as the specifications and requirements are complied with, they can buy it.

02:42 But for the expensive modern jeeps that can reach Php 2.8 million,

02:47 Joy is still nervous even though they can still travel because their operator filed for consolidation.
