01:03 (speaking in foreign language)
01:11 (audience applauding)
01:14 - I'm sure everyone understands what I've just said.
01:19 But,
01:22 Suleiman,
01:24 and distinguished ladies and gentlemen,
01:28 I wanted to thank you and the ADHI
01:33 and thank the collaboration that has taken place
01:40 between you and the ADHI
01:43 and our government institutions
01:48 to demonstrate what is possible
01:57 in the area we have been seeking to make some progress
02:02 for a long time without making good progress.
02:07 When I met Suleiman a couple of years ago,
02:14 he told me a lot of stories about his technology
02:24 and in housing and how that can lead to achieving
02:29 affordable housing for our population,
02:38 especially the majority of them who need to have access
02:43 to housing but don't have high incomes,
02:48 like some people are fortunate
02:54 to have.
02:55 The other story is Suleiman confessed though to me
03:03 when he was talking and I was listening,
03:09 he mentioned that his wife always keeps him in check
03:16 because he talks too much.
03:22 So I consoled him, I said,
03:24 talking too much is not a bad thing
03:26 as long as that much means something.
03:30 If it is too much that means nothing,
03:33 then that's a bad thing.
03:34 But if you are talking a lot and what you are saying
03:40 makes sense, I think it's not a bad thing.
03:43 So in any case, I was raising that
03:46 because having listened to him,
03:52 at that time,
03:54 all I had to do was keep faith with him
04:01 and say what he was saying made sense
04:09 but always the proof of the cooking is in the pudding.
04:21 So I was saying, no, we need to see
04:25 what you are talking about.
04:26 And that's how he set up this model
04:33 to demonstrate to us what is possible.
04:36 So from talking too much
04:40 to keeping faith with Suleiman,
04:44 I think we have arrived at having something
04:51 standing by which we can judge that
04:55 actually this is possible,
04:58 that the problem we have had for a long time
05:00 can be addressed.
05:05 And this is just the beginning,
05:09 there is a lot of work to do.
05:11 He said, as we all have been listening
05:19 to presentations made,
05:22 there is training of our people that has to go into it.
05:28 There are materials that have to be accessed,
05:34 hopefully and mostly locally.
05:41 And the sustainability model of all this
05:49 is sort of explanatory.
05:51 And I don't think we can have it any better than this,
05:57 to have it affordable, sustainable,
06:01 and then most of it arrived at through local materials,
06:07 I think is the best combination we can have.
06:16 So Suleiman, what I wanted to mention,
06:20 with your family and the people you work with,
06:27 we are going to be good partners.
06:35 We have been, but now even stronger partners
06:39 we are going to be.
06:40 And if we can move faster,
06:46 that's our aim.
06:48 We should be on the side of government,
06:51 we feel we should do whatever is possible
06:56 within our means to have our people access
07:01 the kind of affordable houses
07:07 that are needed in so large numbers.
07:15 But now today we saw what is possible,
07:18 we are going to stick with it,
07:21 and we demand that everyone of us in the government system
07:26 does what we can possibly do to make significant progress.
07:35 So as then you say Daria,
07:41 anytime there is a problem, you know how to get to me.
07:46 I'm available 24 hours,
07:50 so because they want us to succeed in this,
07:54 and I'm sure everyone here wants to.
07:58 And we have partners who want to support government
08:04 to be able to house our people,
08:06 and I think they have seen what is possible with this model.
08:11 I think it invites all of us for this strong partnership
08:21 we can forge to be able to achieve what needs to be done.
08:26 So this is your home, this is a good partnership
08:32 we have with ADHI,
08:37 and we have an obligation to make sure that it works.
08:41 So distinguished ladies and gentlemen who are here,
08:46 and thank you for being here with us
08:51 to see what Suleiman and ADHI can offer.
09:00 I'm looking forward to working with you
09:02 to make everything a success.
09:06 Have a good evening.
