00:00 When you've been chasing storms for a quarter of a century,
00:02 they're going to be days and years that stand out above all of the rest.
00:06 And not only was 2023 my most prolific storm chasing season to date,
00:10 it contains several of the most prolific days that I have ever seen in my entire
00:14 storm chasing career.
00:15 The number one day occurring right here on Colorado highway 63 South of the town
00:20 of Akron,
00:21 where I witnessed 19 tornadoes on a day that saw the state record for the most
00:25 tornadoes that ever touched down in a single day here on June 21st in the field
00:30 right across from where I'm standing amongst those 19 tornadoes.
00:33 I witnessed these two twin tornadoes rotating around each other.
00:37 That day was one of the most incredible days I'd ever seen.
00:40 Fast forward a couple of months to August, just outside of Yuma,
00:50 not too far from here, where I witnessed several more tornadoes,
00:53 including this one of the stronger tornadoes that we would see in the state of
00:56 Colorado and EF three near Yuma tornado on the ground.
01:00 It's about to pop onto the screen.
01:02 This one we put live on the Accuweather network.
01:05 Several of those tornadoes over the course of the year ended up live on the
01:08 Accuweather network. And one of the most prolific tornado seasons I have had to
01:12 date, this tornado near a Tumwa,
01:14 Iowa was the most violent of the tornadoes of the year,
01:17 a very busy tornado year for myself and chasers all across the country.
01:21 A constant reminder that no matter how long you've been doing this,
01:24 how many events you've seen,
01:25 the weather is always got something new in store for you.
01:29 And 2023 will certainly be a stark reminder of that for us going forward.
