00:00 (car engine roaring)
00:03 (speaking in foreign language)
00:09 - You can tell me your name first.
00:26 - My name's Anthony Raynard and I'm from South Africa.
00:29 - Nishan Lofande, co-founder of Indian Supercross Racing League.
00:34 (speaking in foreign language)
00:37 - So what's your view about the Indian motocross,
00:45 like how the people are coming in and what's the aspect,
00:49 well, in the future, what's the future about the motocross?
00:53 Because a lot of youngsters, you can see,
00:54 they want to be in the part of motocross.
00:56 So you are in India, you are from India,
01:00 so you need to tell about it first.
01:02 - I think, see, it's very important,
01:03 like we have Anthony today with us here, right?
01:05 Why?
01:06 Because for the love of the sport,
01:07 to be a good ambassador,
01:09 to let people know what Supercross, motocross is,
01:11 and I think with the Indian Supercross Racing League,
01:13 what will be the game changer
01:16 is more people coming back to the sport.
01:18 We have so much interest from so many people.
01:21 We are today at IPW, right?
01:23 And there is so much interest for dirt bikes and off-roading.
01:26 I think putting up a good show
01:28 and putting up a platform for people
01:30 to probably look forward to would be important.
01:34 And then cater to the juniors class
01:36 and get more and more people to join hands,
01:39 get on their bikes, enjoy, race, have fun.
01:42 - So, Anthony, you are in India,
01:45 and that too is the party house of the India.
01:48 How excited are you?
01:50 - It's incredible.
01:51 I've been to Goa once before, many years ago,
01:55 and that was for holiday,
01:56 but now being here for an event like this
01:58 and to see the scale of the event,
02:01 I expected something a lot smaller,
02:04 but if this is something to work from,
02:06 you can only imagine what the Indian Supercross League
02:08 is gonna be like.
02:10 So to be here and take it all in
02:12 and to see what the guys are doing
02:14 and what Ishan and team is doing,
02:16 it can only get better.
02:18 And coming back for the Racing League,
02:20 I'm really looking forward to it.
02:21 - So I have a one-tricky, it's a fun kind of a constraint,
02:24 but people will know something different.
02:26 How cool is Goa?
02:28 (laughing)
02:29 - I love it, I absolutely love it.
02:31 - I mean the temperature.
02:32 - Yeah.
02:33 (laughing)
02:35 No, it's a little bit hot and sweaty,
02:36 but very cool place.
02:38 - You can tell about the experience of the Africa,
02:40 like the races.
02:42 - Yeah, so I've raced since the age of 10
02:44 and I'm 33 years old,
02:46 so 23 years of racing all around South Africa,
02:50 all around Africa,
02:51 and I've traveled all over the world racing.
02:54 So for 23 years, I've seen a lot of places
02:57 and I've raced a lot of races,
02:59 but South Africa is amazing.
03:01 We've got amazing places,
03:03 great locations for holidays,
03:05 but India is special and Goa especially.
03:10 - One more thing,
03:12 when you say you're racing in 33 years,
03:14 how old are you?
03:15 - I'm 33.
03:16 (laughing)
03:18 - I thought you were just 25.
03:20 (laughing)
03:22 - He's now 32.
03:23 - I look like a baby.
03:25 (laughing)
03:26 - Give me a question between us.
03:28 - That's what racing does to you,
03:29 it keeps you young.
03:30 - Keeps you young.
03:31 You gotta keep training to race,
03:33 so it keeps you in good shape.
03:36 - Okay, so we are in race talks right now.
03:39 What do you wanna tell the upcoming racers
03:42 and who are all riding in the motocross,
03:44 we have a co-founder over here,
03:47 what do you wanna tell to our people?
03:49 - I think the biggest thing is,
03:51 quite simply, come to the Indian Supercross League
03:54 next year, it's gonna blow your mind.
03:57 If you're a motocross, supercross, dirt bike follower,
04:00 adventure bike, street bike, any bike,
04:03 but you're on a bike, come see the supercross,
04:05 it's going to blow your mind.
04:07 To see what, not only what I can do on a motorbike,
04:10 just see what another 100 guys can do on a motorbike
04:13 in a tight space, it absolutely makes you lose your mind.
04:17 So, come support, India has come out today to this event,
04:22 so come out to the first one, come see what it's all about,
04:25 and before you know it, you're gonna wanna have a bike
04:27 and be on track.
04:29 - What's the age to be get trained in motocross,
04:32 or what is the age to be,
04:34 because we can see a lot of young people
04:37 are coming to this thing,
04:39 or whether they can participate in the race,
04:41 or no, I mean, just for the general knowledge,
04:44 what's the average age?
04:45 - I think we have seen a lot of people
04:46 in America, Australia, start at probably age five.
04:49 Parents do put their kids at 45cc,
04:53 more pads, and they start off.
04:55 Really, that's the starting age for any sport.
04:59 Like I said, before I used to play tennis,
05:01 I held a tennis racket at the age of three.
05:03 That does really put you into a complete sporting zone
05:07 from very early on.
05:09 But to race, we have certain rules and regulations
05:12 laid out by the FIM, FMSCI, and so on and so forth.
05:16 So there are different categories, right?
05:18 You have the 65cc, you have the 85cc,
05:20 then the 250cc and 450.
05:23 So for the 85, you need to be at least 12 years old
05:26 to be a part, and not more than 14,
05:29 because then after that, you shift onto the bigger bikes.
05:32 So whatever happens at the ISRL,
05:35 that's gonna be with the brand guidelines,
05:38 the rules, technical regulations laid down by the Federation,
05:42 but then to start off, for anybody as a fan,
05:45 start them as young as possible.
05:47 - So one more question for you, Antony and for you.
05:51 I heard Antony is coming back to India in upcoming years.
05:55 What's the plan with him?
05:57 You're both like...
05:58 - I think Antony's a big name across the world.
06:03 He's a good ambassador of the sport.
06:05 He loves the sport just as much as we do.
06:08 And to have him back race the SEAT ISRL would be amazing.
06:14 Just more opportunities will open up, not just for him,
06:17 but there are so many other riders who have registered,
06:19 and if we could put that option out for them,
06:22 that this country will welcome them
06:25 and create something new for them,
06:27 I think that would be a good start for us.
06:29 - Antony, what do you wanna take?
06:33 What do you wanna tell about that?
06:34 Anyway, I heard in the stage,
06:36 we are coming back to India.
06:38 Whether it's going to be a trip,
06:39 or you're going to smash everyone's head.
06:43 - Well, I'd love to do that.
06:44 I'd love to come back and win, for sure.
06:47 I've won some of the Indian Supercrosses before,
06:50 many years ago.
06:50 So I'd love to come back
06:53 and hopefully be on one of the six teams.
06:56 Whoever I get auctioned off to,
06:59 I wanna be on the...
07:00 I think any team is a good team,
07:02 but I wanna be with good people,
07:03 and have good teammates,
07:05 and make it a team success, more importantly.
07:08 But have fun.
07:10 If you're not having fun,
07:11 the win's not gonna come.
07:12 So hopefully be out in Jan,
07:14 and come race, and win some races.
07:17 - And you know, we have a co-founder
07:19 of the Motocross of India, and you.
07:22 I want to tell a few words to them.
07:26 We see a lot of racing,
07:29 or street racing I'm talking about,
07:31 but the response to those people,
07:34 and some people do stands.
07:36 So what do you wanna tell?
07:37 As a racer, you are in a championship,
07:40 and he's the co-founder of an exotic race.
07:42 What's it take for them as well?
07:44 I mean, I don't want to end this
07:46 like a normal conversation.
07:47 - No, I think it's a very valid point, right?
07:50 If you want to show,
07:51 if you want to prove your mettle,
07:53 you cannot do it within civilians or public roads.
07:58 Get on the track with competitive people,
08:00 and then prove what you have,
08:01 or you know, show your skills.
08:03 Just doing it alone on your streets,
08:05 on public roads, is not the way.
08:07 And that's dangerous, not just for you,
08:09 but I think for the others who are roaming around.
08:11 India is a big country with a huge population.
08:14 You don't want to go down that road,
08:16 you know, looking like a hooligan.
08:18 Rather, maybe make a group,
08:21 get to a secure place,
08:22 do your standing, do your racing,
08:23 go to the tracks, there are certain tracks,
08:26 and just say no to racing,
08:28 and riding wildly on public roads.
08:30 That's what I would say.
08:31 - Yeah.
08:32 - What about you, Benji?
08:33 - Yeah, no, I think exactly what Ishan say, I agree with.
08:36 Is space to play for everyone?
08:39 I think there's so many different genres of sports
08:42 within motorsports.
08:43 Motocross, enduro, street bikes, super bikes,
08:47 the stunts, India's got really good stunt riders.
08:50 And all of those guys, they must wear all the gear,
08:53 keep safe, no one wants to hurt themselves,
08:56 and most importantly, don't hurt anyone else.
08:58 So the correct environments in South Africa, same thing.
09:02 Play within the space that you have
09:03 to keep the sport safe, and we can all be successful.
09:06 - Thank you, thank you.
09:07 I want this thing to be reached to so many people,
09:10 'cause I've seen a lot of accidents are happening.
09:13 You know, a championship, and big people say
09:18 they might get inspired, and they don't do it,
09:20 and they do their skills over here.
09:23 Thank you for--
09:23 - Thank you very much, thank you.
09:24 - Thank you so much.
09:25 - Thank you.
09:26 (gentle music)
09:29 you
