Pelicans In-Season Tournament Press Conference Highlights, 12/6/23 | Pelicans vs Lakers - Semifinals
Transcript
00:00 >> The games have been a lot of fun.
00:04 I think the NBA has done a great job of providing a platform
00:11 that allows high competitive meaningful games during the regular season.
00:16 And all of our guys, I think all of us, we didn't know what to expect,
00:20 to be honest with you.
00:22 But now that we're in it and we feel it, the games have been much more competitive.
00:27 Teams are getting up for them.
00:29 And to have an opportunity to be here in Vegas for the final four of the in-season
00:34 tournament is a great experience for our young group.
00:37 >> Goofy.
00:39 They come to work, we all have fun.
00:45 We all off the court, on the court, we all get along with each other.
00:49 We all around the same age.
00:50 But when we get on the floor or when everybody gets on the floor,
00:54 everybody's just locked in, locked in to what they do, trying to get better.
00:59 And when we come together, we just try to put it together and stay focused.
01:03 But having fun at the same time, being loose, but
01:06 making sure that we're keeping our eye on the goal.
01:09 >> I was very confident.
01:12 I felt like we had a really good chance of taking advantage of the opportunity in
01:16 front of us with the preparation, with us having a more healthy roster.
01:20 And as a person with his own wine brand, McCollum Harris 91,
01:23 it just made sense for me to travel with my own wine.
01:26 And if you need some, I have some in my suitcase.
01:28 I'll make sure you get some because you asked the question.
01:31 I have the Pino with me right now.
01:32 I have the Chardonnay, I have the Blanc de Blanc, as well as the Rose.
01:36 So I got you and if you want more, you can purchase some at mccollumharris91.com.
01:40 >> [LAUGH] >> Over here in the third row.
01:44 >> I don't think I have a question that can set you up for.
01:47 >> A lot of it has to do with the different characteristics of our players.
01:53 So we tailor most of our ATOs around who they are and
01:57 how we can get them the best quality shot, for sure.
02:01 >> Joe here in the front.
02:02 >> Do you think that the IST will become an accolade that helps define
02:08 a player's personal success or a franchise?
02:12 And when they start looking at like,
02:13 well, this is what the franchise has accomplished over its years.
02:16 >> I think it's gonna be added to what's already here.
02:21 Obviously, we have all star game, all NBA, playoff experiences, finals.
02:27 I think this is gonna be another component to what makes players great in the NBA.
02:33 And we can already see how competitive it is, how seriously all of our players and
02:38 organizations have taken it, and I think it's gonna continue to trend up.
02:42 >> For me, I think my motivating factor is just seeing my teammates really getting
02:49 ready for these games, this is a different approach.
02:52 You see some of my teammates getting,
02:56 some of them don't get extra shots after the game.
02:59 They're really locked in and getting extra shots after the shoot around or
03:04 after practice.
03:05 It's just a different feel.
03:09 I think I just get my motivation from my teammates,
03:11 cuz I know how bad they want this.
03:15 The same, see how excited our teammates are about that prize,
03:21 but to be able to win something this early in the season.
03:24 So I think that's really been the driving force for us, just motivation,
03:30 obviously, for the 500,000, but to be known as a winner.
