Lainey Wilson speaks on her nomination ahead of the 2023 CMAs

00:00 This is year two of being nominated for anything for the CMAs and

00:03 we have the most nominations, which completely blows my mind.

00:07 But nine is my lucky number.

00:08 Nine is the year that I wrote my first song, came to Nashville for

00:12 the first time, got my first pair of bell bottoms, got my horse.

00:16 So it's looking pretty good, it's feeling good, and

00:19 I do feel like I've got a lot of love and support in this town.

00:22 And I'm feeling supported.

00:25 I'm gonna be performing Wildflowers and Wild Horses,

00:28 which is pretty much a nod to where I come from and the people who raised me.

00:32 I would not be who I am without those folks.

00:35 And so it's just talking about being from a long line of hardheaded,

00:40 tough folks, and the kind of people who teach you to pull yourself up by your

00:44 bootstraps and keep on going, keep your head down.

00:46 And I'm excited to get out there and sing about the kind of people that I come from.

00:51 It's gonna be fiery.

00:53 It is gonna be fun.

00:56 It's gonna be, I don't know, there's gonna be some magic in it that I'm excited for

01:01 y'all to see with your own eyes.

01:03 I am looking forward to spending the night with my friends.

01:08 I mean, these people who I've been friends with in this town for

01:11 as long as I can remember, and a lot of the artists who I am brand new friends with.

01:16 But people who are lifting me up and supporting me and

01:19 high-fiving me and telling me that I can do it.

01:22 And when you hear it from people like that, you really do feel like, okay,

01:25 maybe I really do have a shot at this.
