00:00 And for whatever reason, it's just the weekend that we gotta keep sticking.
00:06 So like I said, we gotta find something different to do and
00:08 we just need to do too much.
00:11 I just feel like it's too much talking about what we need to be.
00:14 It's like, I don't know, we need to find a real focus, not just a,
00:18 we gotta be better.
00:19 But that's the way, so you wanna be better, that's obvious.
00:22 Let's get past that, we already know we gotta be better.
00:25 How are we gonna get better?
00:25 What are we gonna do to get better?
00:28 >> You feel like y'all are coming in prepared enough as far as practice and
00:31 preparation, do you know?
00:32 >> Yeah, I mean, I think we had a good week of preparation and
00:37 I'm not just saying it just to say it, like it's just word bombing.
00:40 Like we had a good week, I think we prepared well,
00:42 I think we had a good week of preparation.
00:44 For whatever reason, we're getting out here and we're not,
00:48 I'm not even gonna say executing, cuz I feel like we've executed on some things.
00:52 There's some things we've gotta clean up, obviously, some penalties,
00:55 some balls, I mean, Derek Carter on his side than anybody is.
00:59 He threw that pick and he wanted that one back.
01:02 I mean, we just gotta find a way to get more, it's just boring.
01:07 >> Alvin, you said you need to do something different.
01:08 When you're this late in the season, how hard is it to do that and
01:11 find something different?
01:12 >> Man, when I start coaching, I'll tell you.
01:19 >> [LAUGH] >> Like I said,
01:21 I could just speak from my perspective.
01:22 All I'm gonna do is just pick it up, dust it off.
01:25 Go in tomorrow morning and do my workout.
01:28 And do what I do to prepare during the week and just rinse and repeat.
01:31 This is what it is, win or lose.
01:33 >> Is there a point where it becomes demoralizing?
01:36 >> No, I'm a man, it ain't demoralizing, but I'm frustrated.
01:39 Everything I've done in my life or been through, nothing was handed to me.
01:47 I always had to work for it, nothing was given.
01:50 So I don't expect anybody to give me anything.
01:52 I don't expect the other team to come up there and lay down just because we say we
01:55 gotta be better or we say we gotta do this, we gotta work for it.
01:57 So I ain't demoralized, cuz I know what I stand on as a man, and
02:03 I know what I wanna do, and I know what it takes to be a winner.
02:08 So like I said, I kinda know what guys in here, what their tempo is.
02:13 These dudes wanna play for each other, I'm strapping up for them dudes.
02:15 The dudes that got their helmets on that's in the trenches.
02:18 You know what I'm saying?
02:18 The dudes that got their helmet that's doing the same thing week in and week out,
02:21 I'm doing it for them.
02:22 And I'm hoping they're doing the same thing for me.
02:24 So like I said, I'm gonna wake up tomorrow, get up,
02:29 go do my workout, and do the same thing I've been doing for seven years.
02:33 >> Is it the most frustrating you've been in seven years on this podcast?
02:37 >> I've been pretty frustrated throughout the years sometimes.
02:41 I think this is probably the most.
02:42 It's just not happening for whatever reason.
02:47 So it's easy to kinda let that take you over.
02:52 But for me, I mean, I done been through so much.
02:55 I think sometimes my demeanor is a little confusing, but
03:02 it's like, man, I just look like I have to control what I control.
03:05 That's what I've learned from high school to jumping around college to
03:09 even in the NFL, you gotta control what you control.
03:11 That's just the main thing I keep telling myself.
03:14 My mom said that too.
03:15 Like, man, do you, as long as you control, do your job and
03:19 the rest, everybody else gotta do their job.
03:22 >> You mentioned the guys playing for each other,
03:23 specifically the guys in the trenches.
03:25 People are gonna ask, is the locker room lost?
03:28 How would you describe the locker room at this point in the season?
03:30 >> The locker room?
03:31 I mean- >> You guys still feel like-
03:34 >> You talking about the players?
03:35 >> Yeah.
03:36 >> Man, I feel like we good.
03:39 Like I said, I'm playing for them dudes.
03:41 When you lose a locker room, I feel like there's some miscommunications or
03:45 misunderstandings between players.
03:47 And there's none of that.
03:49 There's none of that going on.
03:50 So there's no loss of a locker room in that aspect,
03:54 what you're saying as far as players.
03:56 >> But this being the most frustrating you've been, just to clarify,
03:59 is it because the issues keep coming up over and over again?
04:02 Like the same- >> Yeah.
04:03 >> That's kind of the main- >> We don't have an identity as a team.
04:05 We're a team that says we wanna do and we don't do.
04:10 And it shows.
04:11 It's consistently inconsistent.
04:14 >> Do you mean that overall or as an offense?
04:16 >> We're consistently inconsistent.
04:18 Everybody with a fleur de lis on their body and on their head,
04:22 we're consistently inconsistent.
04:24 That's what I'm saying as a team.
04:26 >> What do you guys wanna do?
04:28 You wanna be a consistent team?
04:30 >> Of course.
04:31 >> Yeah. >> You wanna win in the division.
04:33 You wanna win a Super Bowl.
04:34 You wanna do all these things.
04:35 And I mean, there's only so much talking that you can do, right?
04:40 You gotta go find a way to do, you know what I'm saying?
04:43 And I don't know, I feel like this year more than any year,
04:47 I feel like my delivery when I'm speaking to y'all is kinda like, I just,
04:52 I don't know, we just gotta find a way.
04:58 And I don't know, I just hope these guys ain't down.
05:04 I just hope they keeping their heads right.
05:06 Cuz I definitely, this shit is a lot of mental strain and
05:11 a lot of, it's rigorous on your mind.
05:13 And if you let your mind go, man, shit is over with.
05:16 So I just hope these dudes is keeping their mind right.
05:18 That's all I'm doing.
05:19 >> And does it ever come to a point where you're saying, okay,
05:21 this is just who we are as a team?
05:22 >> No, like I said, I'm a man, so there's never a throw in the card, right?
05:26 If that was the case, I wouldn't get up tomorrow and go back to work and
05:32 keep going.
05:34 So I just keep being consistent in process.
05:39 That's my personal, that's the personal journey that I've made sure
05:44 that I stay consistent with, just keep trusting my process, right?
05:48 And that's kinda what I preach to some of the guys that's probably like, man,
05:52 trust your process.
05:53 Whatever it is, trust it.
05:55 And if you feel like you ain't doing enough, shit, find something to add.
05:59 And if you feel like you are doing enough, shit,
06:01 make sure you check them boxes on Sunday throughout the week.
06:04 And if you're doing that, then, I mean, what else?
06:08 If there was a magic, I guess, if this camera could point at me and
06:12 tell me how to fix a problem, shit, we would be good, you know what I'm saying?
06:17 But that's not how it works, you gotta go to work.
06:19 >> It's so weird to be talking about finding your identity in week-
06:25 >> 11, 12, yeah.
06:27 >> 12?
06:27 >> Yeah, yeah, yeah.
06:28 >> Five week threw me off, I can't remember.
06:30 >> Yeah, I mean, that's kinda the world we living in, so.
