00:10 on the final reading of the Philippine National Nuclear Energy Safety Act Bill.

00:14 Under the draft, the Philippine Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority

00:20 will establish the legal framework for the safe and effective use of nuclear energy in the Philippines.

00:28 According to Representative Marco Juanco, who is the sponsor of the bill,

00:32 he will talk to the Senators to immediately help in the first steps

00:37 in the implementation of the Nuclear Energy Development Act

00:41 which is the responsibility of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

00:45 The country already has a nuclear power plant in Morong, Bataan

00:49 but it has not been built yet since 1986.

00:56 I hope that they could see the wisdom of having an independent regulator.

01:01 It's not just the nuclear plant that is the authority.

01:06 All the ionizing radiation in the Philippines,

01:09 X-ray machine, medical, industrial, agriculture,

01:18 everything that has to do with ionizing radiation or materials,

01:23 they are the ones who are responsible for it.

01:30 The answer is yes.

01:31 And the onus is on us.

01:34 We are the ones who need to be committed to our government.
