00:00 What is up Texas A&M Aggies fans?
00:07 Indy Cartem here with your Texas A&M Aggies Daily Blitz.
00:10 It is ACU post game edition here on Fan Stream Sports.
00:14 Thanks for popping in.
00:15 Hope you enjoyed the game.
00:16 38 to 10 the Aggies win as they now turn their sights on to LSU to end the season.
00:25 They improved to 7-4, 6-1 at home at Kyle Field this year.
00:30 Would have liked to have seen that one loss turn into a win.
00:37 You know, what are you going to say against an opponent like Abilene Christian?
00:41 The game you'd like to think was in hand for most of the day, but that wasn't the case.
00:47 The Aggies got off to somewhat of a slow start offensively with the second play from Scrimmage
00:54 being a pick six as Henderson's arm got hit as he was throwing.
01:01 And you know, a perfectly placed defensive player there to catch it and run it, I think
01:05 49 yards for the score.
01:08 The Aggies were quickly down 7-0, but that didn't last long.
01:11 The Aggies of course came back, scored a touchdown.
01:15 Still kind of a slow start offensively.
01:18 Jaden Henderson didn't look great to begin the game.
01:24 And man, he was under a lot more pressure than I would have liked to have seen.
01:28 He was running for his life at times.
01:32 And you'd like to see a little bit more protection for him like you did against Mississippi State.
01:39 But for whatever the reason, the Wildcats seemed to get to Henderson at will.
01:45 But it didn't affect necessarily the play other than those plays where he was being
01:51 hurried.
01:52 The Aggies, another thing of concern if you're looking for things to worry about, maybe not
01:56 worry about, but look to improve in Elijah Robinson's first game as the interim head
02:03 coach here.
02:05 The Aggies only went 5-12 on third downs.
02:08 They weren't very good on third downs.
02:10 They were routinely, because of that pressure on Henderson, routinely stuck in third and
02:15 longs and it didn't always work out well for A&M.
02:20 But bottom line is, you get a 38-10 win.
02:23 You got some guys involved late that weren't going to get a lot of playing time otherwise.
02:28 Henderson goes 16-23, 260 yards, two touchdowns and the one interception that we mentioned.
02:34 Reuben Owens carried 18 times for 106 yards.
02:38 He had a score.
02:40 Your leading receiver was Moose Muhammad, 104 yards on four catches and a touchdown.
02:49 The Aggies racked up 448 total yards of offense.
02:52 They held the Wildcats to just 242.
02:56 Again, the slow start though concerns me a little bit.
03:00 I understand Henderson's a new guy.
03:04 It's a new situation.
03:05 Jimbo's gone.
03:07 Robinson's in, but that shouldn't really affect what Petrino does with his play calling and
03:11 things and I feel like he was trying to get a feel for the game flow before the Aggies
03:18 really, really got into their offensive groove.
03:21 But of course, they eventually found it.
03:23 Scored 21 points in the second half, held ACU to just three there in the fourth quarter.
03:28 So it is what it is.
03:30 The Aggies also racked up 25 first downs.
03:33 It seems like every, although only going 5-12 on third down, they didn't get into a lot
03:38 of third downs late.
03:39 It seems like first down run, second down run, then a first down, first down long run,
03:46 then first down on a short pass.
03:51 The Aggies did what they needed to do to beat an opponent like ACU.
03:55 Is this type of play going to translate well in Baton Rouge against LSU?
04:00 No, it's not going to.
04:03 The Aggies actually lost the time of possession by not much, but 30 minutes, 46 seconds for
04:09 ACU, 29 minutes, 14 seconds for the Aggies.
04:15 And of course, Aggies had the one turnover.
04:18 ACU was held without a, did not have a turnover, which is great for them.
04:23 Just 3.7 yards per rush for ACU, only 4.1 for the Aggies.
04:28 Still had 175 yards on the ground.
04:30 So you know what, we'll take all that.
04:31 We'll take it for what it is.
04:34 Jalen Henderson also running 12 carries, 27 yards.
04:38 Most of those were scrambles where he was running for his life.
04:41 But you know, the Aggies will move on to LSU.
04:44 We'll talk a little bit about LSU probably on Monday or Tuesday.
04:47 A couple of quick notes here before we get off the air.
04:50 Of course, it was senior day at A&M.
04:53 They honored the seniors before the game.
04:56 And you know, it was a good day for the seniors to get involved late.
05:00 Some of those guys didn't get a lot of playing time, as we mentioned.
05:04 So you know what, congratulations to those boys.
05:06 I always like seeing the videos of them out on the field before the game with their family.
05:11 Taking pictures, taking video, that's a moment for, you know, those guys and the families
05:17 to cherish and it will last the rest of their lives.
05:19 So that's really cool to see stuff like that.
05:22 For those of you that don't know, it was sort of a somber moment or a somber memory for
05:29 today's date, November 18th.
05:31 Some of you younger Aggies fans, younger Aggies should know, but you might not.
05:37 Of course, today on Saturday, November 18th is the 24th anniversary of the bonfire collapse
05:44 on November 18th, 1999.
05:48 At roughly 2.42am where the bonfire that was being erected collapsed, killed 12 people,
05:54 injured another 27.
05:57 The Aggies commemorated that with, if you didn't watch the game, on the center logo,
06:02 the Texas A&M logo in the middle of the field.
06:05 They had a maroon ribbon around the T to commemorate that.
06:09 They also, of course, paid tribute on their social media channels as well.
06:14 So just something to remember.
06:16 Remember our fallen Aggies everywhere.
06:19 Not just for bonfire, but of course it is as the anniversary of the bonfire that was
06:23 at the forefront of a lot of people's minds today.
06:25 So I don't remember them talking about it much on the broadcast.
06:28 Again, I don't want to get into this, but maybe one of the worst broadcast teams I've
06:34 ever heard on the, I get it, ESPN+, SEC Network+, I get it.
06:39 And I don't have a problem with women calling games.
06:41 I really don't.
06:42 Just be good.
06:43 I feel like she was very good.
06:46 I can't remember who the color guy was.
06:49 He was not good.
06:50 It seemed like he was out of touch with some of the plays.
06:53 But that's neither here nor there.
06:55 Just one of those things that irks me tremendously, being in the business.
06:59 So I appreciate you guys tuning in.
07:01 We'll talk LSU this week.
07:03 Congratulations, Texas A&M, 38-10 over the Abilene Christian Wildcats in their last game
07:08 of the season.

07:16 We'll talk about that later in the week.
