00:02 Hey GQ, this is Shakur Stevenson.
00:04 This is how I made, saved, and spent my first million.
00:08 [upbeat music]
00:10 My first world title fight, I fought Joette Gonzalez.
00:18 They told me before the fight how much I was gonna get.
00:20 It was a seven figure number.
00:22 After the fight, the first day I remember like,
00:24 yo, where my check at, where my check at?
00:27 Felt real good.
00:28 Not only winning the world title in the sport of boxing,
00:30 but making as much money as I did.
00:33 You heard about how I made my first million.
00:36 Here's how I spent it.
00:37 The first thing that I did was buy my mother a house,
00:43 and that was like $550,000.
00:47 [upbeat music]
00:50 It was a big house, six bedrooms,
00:57 with a movie room, a little office in the front.
01:01 It was a nice big house.
01:03 Of course she was like excited about the house
01:05 and happy about it,
01:06 but my mother ain't really wanna move away from her home,
01:10 but then she also wanted to be closer to me.
01:12 She got me there and all the kids, so she be good.
01:16 My mother gave me life and she put me into this world.
01:19 Just the way she raised me,
01:20 made me into the person that I am today.
01:22 So ever since my first power aid deal,
01:25 I've been making sure that my mother and all my little brothers
01:28 and sisters is straight.
01:29 I think that was my first priority.
01:31 Next big purchase, I spent like 85K on some jewelry.
01:42 I really only bought a watch and a chain.
01:50 Around 50, 50 or 60s on a Rolex,
01:53 and then like 20 and 30 on a chain.
01:56 Rolex, because when I came up,
01:59 I used to hear rappers always say something
02:00 about a Roli, Roli, Roli.
02:02 So I'm like, okay, I wanna get me a Roli too.
02:05 I would come to be in the follow up.
02:07 Looking back on it now though,
02:09 like I think jewelry is just,
02:12 I ain't the biggest fan of jewelry.
02:14 I rock it, but I'm just not the biggest fan of it
02:17 'cause it depreciates.
02:19 Then you gonna want another one, then another one,
02:22 and then come to find out now you done spent 300,
02:26 400,000 on jewelry, a half a ticket on jewelry.
02:30 I don't really think it's really worth it.
02:32 Next will be my Maybach.
02:42 150K on a Maybach, man.
02:52 One of my friends was telling me Maybach is fire.
02:55 And I FaceTimed him and I showed him the Maybach.
02:58 He like, man, get that, get that, get that.
03:01 And he encouraged me to get it.
03:02 So I got inside, I saw the seats was all the way back.
03:06 I'm like, man, I wanna ride in the back of it.
03:09 Definitely when you first get it,
03:11 first thing you wanna do is go to the club.
03:14 You wanna go to the club and show off your Maybach.
03:16 Yeah, the Maybach was cool for a certain period of time,
03:19 but that's another thing, cars depreciate too.
03:23 So it's like, I'm not even the biggest car fan no more.
03:26 I got me a nice bulletproof Cadillac
03:29 that I ride around in there.
03:30 I don't really want no other cars.
03:32 And the rest went to my family.
03:42 The rest of that money just went to my everyday spending
03:48 and also just making sure my family's straight.
03:50 All my little brothers and sisters.
03:52 It's seven boys and two girls.
03:55 So my little brother's got stuff for their schools,
03:59 clothes for school.
04:00 I remember spending a big bag on Christmas.
04:03 My little brothers, they kind of matured fast.
04:05 Now my little brother, he playing varsity football
04:08 and nine times out of 10 going to a good college next year.
04:11 My little cousin is actually like one of the best boxers,
04:15 young boxers on the planet right now.
04:17 Like when we go to gyms, he'll spar with pros
04:21 that been boxing for years and he's beating them up.
04:25 Honestly, I was his everyday sparring partner.
04:27 So to nowadays, like he's trying to turn it up on me
04:31 and he's pushing me at a high level.
04:33 So in a few years, a lot of people gonna hear
04:36 by his name, Zayquan Moses.
04:38 Thank you for having me GQ.
04:43 I'm Shakur Stevenson and this is my first man.
