00:00 Hello, my name's Georgia Mooney and this is Rolling Stones In My Room, which today is
00:06 in my room. So welcome to my slightly mad living room. I'm going to play you three songs
00:12 from my debut album, which just came out. It's called Full of Moon. And I'm going to
00:17 play a couple on this lovely dulcimer and one on the piano behind me. And this first
00:23 song is called Nothing Is Forever and it is about how the patriarchy is surely doomed.
00:30 Okay.
00:31 [Music]
00:39 Break of day, shadows call and light betrays. Once you held all of the armies, but your
01:03 hero defied all the curses that be. Let me explain. Just release and you'll feel no
01:32 pain. Brace, bow your head, take a minute. Oh, you did it again. Lucky we're so forgiving.
01:53 You wouldn't know it. You wouldn't see it in his eyes. You wouldn't guess it. Oh, it'll
02:05 take you by surprise. Come right down. The bottom rung ain't as bad as the top. Come
02:34 right down. The bottom rung ain't as bad as it sounds. Strip. Hang up all of your hangers.
02:45 Here's your chance to restart. Is this as good for you as it is for me? You wouldn't
02:58 know it. You wouldn't see it in his eyes. You wouldn't guess it. Oh, it'll take you by surprise.
03:20 Nothing is forever. Nothing is forever. Nothing is forever. Nothing is forever.
03:49 You wouldn't know it. You wouldn't see it in his eyes. You wouldn't guess it. Oh, it'll
04:10 take you by surprise.
04:31 Quite worried. Not sure what to do in this silence. Oh, God, thank you. And hello to
04:39 my neighbours downstairs making dinner. This is a dulcimer, by the way, and it's a beautiful
04:46 folky instrument that nobody's ever heard of. And a lot of people stop me in airports
04:50 to ask where it's from. And I still haven't Googled that fully. But yes, beautiful, beautiful
04:56 folky instrument that is heard a lot in Appalachian folk music and all over the place. And I won
05:03 this in a raffle, if you can believe it. It was the best day of my life. So moving right
05:09 along, I'm going to do a song now, which is called What an Inconvenience. And it is, well,
05:16 a little bit about when somebody is already married.
05:35 With all the ice at last diverted, we slipped outside before they heard us. And at the time
05:58 your hand touched mine, we threw a rope across a great divide. Such a scene as a hearty fool,
06:13 you go as far as the ocean pool. You speak of dog and daughter. I put the roses in fresh
06:34 wavered eyes. What an inconvenience this was. A safety in what cannot be. There is freedom
06:57 in captivity. Enjoy the sound of every word. It can be truth, it can be blurred. When I
07:18 closed the door behind me, every creak and every turnkey, simplified and it was enough.
07:29 You caught me with the midnight knife. Brush away the dust. What an inconvenience this
07:50 was.
08:16 After a time, you learned your worth. Perhaps it is my role on earth. A fairy fool, your
08:35 matrimony. If only the job weren't quite so low-key. I feel the guilt, I feel the friction.
08:50 I hope it's not a lifelong affliction. Death by a thousand cuts. This nasty business we
09:02 call love. Brush away the dust. What an inconvenience this was. Brush away the dust. What an inconvenience
09:31 this was.
09:32 And a plane goes overhead. Thank you very much. I'm going to do one more song now and
09:50 through the magic of showbiz I will suddenly appear at the piano. Hi! Thank you for listening.
09:56 I've been Georgia Mooney. I'm going to do one more song for you and please check out
10:00 the album. It's called Full of Moon and it's a bit like this but with a thousand more instruments.
10:06 This song is called Consider it a Gift.
10:20 Nothing about this is going to make me look good. So consider it a gift. I don't ever
10:47 feel it out instead. Don't ever mock or even the vaguest thought of even soul. There's
11:03 something I wonder if you'd admit. You picked her out and you had a doubt. I helped you
11:14 even out.
11:15 Nothing you said or did was ever really a risk. I'm going to do one more song for you.
11:43 Consider it a gift. So consider it a miss. Perhaps it's my only redemption. Just when
12:01 I thought I had least to lose I lost the most of anyone. And I hope that you've settled
12:21 on the one that I'd like. Just not the way I'd like it. Take it or leave it. That's a
12:41 lonely choice. Be good to your ladies in waiting. Something to see solidarity in loving you.
13:10 Thanks Rolling Stone.
