00:17 At the 2006 New York Auto Show, Mitsubishi unveiled its
00:20 new 2007 crossover, the Outlander, a new sporty
00:24 crossover, they're calling it, based on their dashboard
00:27 rally heritage, this platform will also underpin the new
00:30 Lancer Evo in the future.
00:31 So this is definitely going to be a driver's vehicle,
00:34 something different in this segment, I think.
00:38 This new 2007 Outlander shows us a clue of where Mitsubishi
00:41 is going with their design.
00:42 It's a little edgier.
00:43 It's got some dramatic lines to it, more dynamic.
00:46 This is the look of Mitsubishi for the future.
00:49 Compared with the outgoing Outlander, this new 2007 model
00:52 is bigger, it's sportier, it's got a new design, it's got a
00:55 bigger, it's sportier, it's got a new V6 engine developing
00:58 220 horsepower, replacing the old 160 horsepower
01:02 four-cylinder engine.
01:04 It's also got an available third row seat for up to seven
01:07 passenger capacity.
01:08 It's got an aluminum roof to lower the CG.
01:10 That lets them put 18-inch wheels as an
01:12 option on the vehicle.
01:13 Some really cool technology like paddle shifters available.
01:16 It's also got a new navigation system.
01:17 It's based on not a DVD, but a hard drive, 30 gigs worth.
01:21 Also got 10 gigs available for music downloads.
01:23 I think a lot of buyers from this young segment are going
01:25 to like that a lot.
01:28 I had dinner last night with the chairman, Niki Osho of
01:30 Mitsubishi Motors.
01:31 And he acknowledged that last year was one of their worst
01:33 years ever.
01:34 But they have introduced a new Eclipse last year.
01:37 They've got this all new 2007 Outlander that's going to push
01:39 the envelope for them.
01:40 This is going to help them find their new direction.
01:43 They've got plans for an exciting new product.
01:45 And this 2007 Outlander is one of them.
01:48 The Outlander for 2007 is already on sale in Japan,
01:50 where it's been a hit already.
01:52 comes to our shores this fall.
