Maico Greg Buncio, from Mandaluyong City, was a talented Filipino motorcycle racer. At the age of 22 his achievements included four national superbike championships in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 and the Underbone Championship in the 1300 cm3 class in 2010. He was awarded the Golden Wheel Driver of the Year in 2007 and 2010 and the Golden Wheel Awardee for Superbikes in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. As a young rider he obtained fair success in motocross, having won the 1996 FBO Motocross Series at TRAKSNIJAK Race Track in Tagaytay City (10-year old and below, 50 cm3 class) and the 2002 FMF Memorial Day Motocross Races at Perris, California (14-year old and below, 85 cm3 mini class). In 2011 he was selected by Team Suzuki Philippines to ride a 600 cm3 SuperSports Suzuki in the Asia Road Racing Championship. He made his debut in the series on 28 April 2011 at the Sepang Circuit in Malaysia, but crashed in the two races.
Buncio suffered an accident during time trials for a roud of the King Underbone Championship at Clark International Speedway Circuit on 14 May 2011. His bike slipped into an area of loose gravel outside a hairpin and Buncio was thrown against an unfinished steel barrier bar which damaged his kidney and liver. He succumbed to his injuries the next day at University of Santo Tomas Hospital in Mabalacat.
Maico Greg Buncio was the son of businessman and longtime motorcycle racing patron, Yoyong Buncio. He was interred in Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina.
