00:05 Following the HS2 announcements, the government have u-turned on its commitment to reopen
00:09 the Leamside railway line.
00:11 As the government announced plans to scrap the northern part of the HS2, the money that
00:15 would have been used will now fund projects in the north.
00:18 However, the reopening of the Leamside line was removed from the Network North website
00:22 and the Conservative MP for North West Durham told the LDRS that the decision to open it
00:27 could be made by local leaders.
00:29 The Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner and Newcastle City Council have published
00:33 guidance to help teachers deal with students bringing weapons to school.
00:37 The advice includes searches, safe weapon handling and police interventions when a knife
00:41 is discovered.
00:42 And finally, a family have been healed after they have saved a man's life in the River
00:46 Tyne.
00:48 The family managed to sail their vessel towards the man struggling in the water and managed
00:52 to pull him to safety.
