New Indian restaurant Kerala Canteen, on St Peter's Square, is putting a modern twist on the food of Kerala.
It takes inspiration from the region's beloved toddy shops and is the brainchild of award-winning chef Bobby Geetha, a former quarter-finalist on MasterChef: The Professionals with more than over a decade of experience in five-star luxury kitchens.

00:00Hi there, I'm Bobby. I'm the chef patron here in Kerala Canteen. I've been travelling around the
00:05world, you know, different cuisines, different cultures, so I'm bringing back my experience,
00:10you know, bringing back to my root, bringing that to the Kerala cuisine and giving you something
00:15different that you've seen in the UK. The name itself shows our concept, you know, the brand,
00:20Kerala Canteen. It's a canteen style food, easygoing, you know, affordable, sharing kind
00:25of concept. It's inspired by the Kerala Toddy Shop. Toddy Shop, it's like a village pub,
00:30you know, old school days, you have nice music, people go there after the work, have a nice drink,
00:35and amazing food. So it's similar like in a village pub in any UK mainland. You will have
00:42nicely cooked food with paired with nice, you know, craft beers or, you know, nice drinks.
00:47So you can come here with family, with friends, you know, enjoy and you don't have to break your
00:51pocket. It's every dishes, even if it's amazing premium produce, we kept everything under £9,
00:56you know, you don't have to pay for a biryani that is good to share, even that is under £9.
