00:00 What is the secret to a good working dog?
00:02 I suppose the breeding is number one.
00:06 And a lot of training goes into them.
00:10 So a good mum and dad is going to generally produce a good pup?
00:14 Yeah, you'll get probably a litter of six, you'll probably get about four that are pretty good.
00:20 And you breed the dogs here?
00:22 I do.
00:23 And you've won an awful lot of trophies in your time.
00:26 Yeah, I suppose.
00:27 I've been a little bit lucky, but yeah, I've always loved my dogs, put a lot of time into them.
00:32 And it keeps me going.
00:34 Now you're what, 85?
00:36 86.
00:37 86, and you're still going, but you started this only in 1990?
00:41 That's right, yes I did.
00:43 So how did you get into sheep dogs?
00:46 I was a stock and station agent for a lot of years and always had a dog with me.
00:51 I used to help with the Ballarat dog trials and then they said it's about time you got a dog and I got a dog and that's turned me on.
01:01 Okay, so Ballarat dog trials aren't held anymore?
01:04 No, they're not.
01:05 But you do have Dean?
01:06 I have been at Dean, yeah, for 10 years.
01:09 And these two will be at Dean on Sunday?
01:11 They will, yeah.
01:13 Okay.
