00:09 Some islanders lost their homes in Manila due to the strong waves.
00:13 And that's the first live news of Niko Wahe.
00:16 Niko.
00:18 Good morning, Igan.
00:23 Good morning. Some houses were completely washed away by the sea in a part of Isla Puting Bato in Tondo, Manila.
00:30 The waves were strong before the houses were destroyed.
00:33 At 4 p.m. last Sunday, the strong waves hit these houses by the sea that is surrounded by Isla Puting Bato in Tondo, Manila.
00:44 A house that has been destroyed can be seen.
00:46 Some residents are taking their belongings outside.
00:50 Last night, we went to the place that is in the video.
00:53 This is it now.
00:55 Not a single house is left intact.
00:57 Only the remains of the houses, like the furniture and wood, are left in the sea.
01:02 One of the residents, Edward, told us that they tied the houses but they couldn't do it.
01:09 The house is attached here.
01:10 Then, we fixed it and it opened.
01:13 It opened like that.
01:14 Then, when it opened, it fell down slowly.
01:17 When it opened, it was all together because it's attached.
01:21 12 houses were built in this part of Isla Puting Bato.
01:26 They have been living here for 15 years and the waves have been strong.
01:30 Their houses were only destroyed recently.
01:33 But it's possible that the waves didn't reach them because of the strong waves.
01:37 It's good that the houses were not damaged.
01:40 When it opened, we took the children because there are many children here.
01:44 We saved the children right away.
01:46 It's good that all the children were out.
01:49 The other children jumped into the sea.
01:51 The problem now is how they will start.
01:53 We have nothing to do because of the current situation.
01:57 Whatever the Coast Guard decides, we will follow.
02:03 We will not move.
02:05 They are just watching the woods that they can still use to build their houses.
02:11 The residents of the houses are now in the Del Pan Evacuation Center.
02:16 They will stay there until no one will move them.
02:20 We are now here in the Del Pan Evacuation Center where the residents of Isla Puting Bato are currently.
02:33 The MSWD of Manila just left and fed the evacuees.
02:38 Twelve families or 57 individuals are here now.
02:45 Live from Manila, I am Nico Juage for JMAI Integrated News.
