00:00 Hello, I'm Emma Downey and this is your news from across the North West this Friday.
00:06 In Lancashire, dog dirt in Preston is causing a bigger problem than drug dealing, according
00:09 to residents. At a recent council meeting by Preston City Council, Cabinet agreed to
00:15 extend the Authority's dog control public space protection order, meaning dogs will
00:19 continue to be leashed when walked along the road and also in a small number of places.
00:24 Rules also stipulate that being unaware of your dog's mess will not be considered a reasonable
00:29 excuse. In Blackpool, a car fire is being treated
00:32 as arson by police, after emergency services were called to reports of a fire satellite
00:37 in Merritt Avenue on Wednesday afternoon. Video footage from the scene shows the vehicle
00:43 was well alight when firefighters from Shorth Shore arrived and they spent 40 minutes tackling
00:48 the blaze. An indebted Wigan mum is raising money for
00:51 the hospital staff who saved her son's life. Nicholas Gould was horrifically injured in
00:57 an accident involving his own pallet truck while working at the inter-solarian engineering
01:01 works at Hindley Green. The 35-year-old sustained many injuries, including six broken ribs and
01:07 brain injuries, after he was run over and impaled against a wall by his own vehicle
01:12 last month. His mum, Catherine, is now organising a fundraiser to generate donations for Royal
01:18 Salford's Hospital Intensive Care and Trauma Unit, which has been called a lifeline for
01:23 his recovery. In Lancaster, it's beginning to look a lot
01:27 like Christmas. The organisers behind award-winning music and arts festival Highest Point will
01:32 host a festive family spectacular at William Street Park this December. The big Christmas
01:38 Day Out will be held on Saturday and Sunday, December 16th and 17th, respectively.
01:45 A Burnley FC fan has raised £1,500 for Rosemary Cancer Charity by trekking 500 miles across
01:52 northern Spain. Anthony Williams of Paddyham took on the
01:56 Groinland pilgrimage route Camino de Norte throughout August, which saw him climb mountains
02:01 during heatwaves and go back to basics, including sleeping rough. The 58-year-old says it meant
02:06 a lot to him to raise money for the Rosemary Cancer Foundation as he lost his dad to the
02:10 disease. And the weather. Across the North West, it
02:14 will be mostly sunny today, with maximum temperatures of 17 degrees. Going into the weekend, Saturday
02:20 and Sunday will be a bit more mild, with showers scattered.
02:25 Have a lovely weekend!
