Volunteer Country's Evan Crowell discusses the opening presser from Josh Heupel as Tennessee prepares for South Carolina.
Transcript
00:00 Tennessee fans, it's that week.
00:03 We have the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend.
00:05 Hello, I'm Evan Kroll, the lead publisher for Volunteer Country on si.com.
00:10 Just got done transcribing Josh Heipel's Monday Presser and
00:13 wanted to bring you all some thoughts from it.
00:14 You can see the full transcription on volunteercountry.com.
00:18 The one thing I wanted to note is the energy that Tennessee's coming into
00:21 this game with.
00:22 A lot of squads would be hung up on the last season.
00:26 South Carolina ended up playoff chances for
00:27 a team that was hoping to make it down the stretch.
00:29 But this is a new team, this is a new year, and that's basically what Heipel said.
00:34 Tennessee's got to play a Simon Sound football against a good Carolina team
00:37 that lost to the two-time defending national champions.
00:41 And then the North Carolina squad that probably has the number two pick in
00:44 the 2024 NFL Draft quarterback.
00:47 Those aren't shameful losses, they're a good football team, and
00:50 those sentiments were echoed all throughout.
00:52 A lot of young guys that got reps against UTSA, and
00:54 Heipel said he wants to keep that moving forward.
00:56 And another important injury note is that quarterback Joe Milton will be available
01:00 for the game on Saturday.
01:02 There was some speculation about that, but he is all good to go.
