00:00 (upbeat music)
00:02 - Bang, episode 280 in the books, Pete.
00:17 What do you think about that?
00:19 - I think we're kicking butt and taking names
00:20 and I'll tell you what,
00:21 one of these days we're gonna get through
00:23 all these various holidays and everything else
00:25 and we're gonna be able to announce
00:26 exactly what's going on behind the scenes.
00:28 - It's been going on for a while now.
00:30 (laughing)
00:31 - Yeah, it has.
00:33 But we appreciate all of you joining us.
00:37 Certainly it's great to be here
00:40 talking about the markets
00:41 which are moving a little more actively, Pete.
00:44 So let's start off with one of the reasons.
00:47 We're gonna hit the macro minute, everybody.
00:49 Macro minute is home prices set a new record.
00:54 Now, that's good if you own a home.
00:57 Probably not good if you're trying to sell that home
01:00 because a lot fewer people qualify for it.
01:03 And it's an issue that's going to be with us
01:08 for a while, I think, Pete.
01:11 - Yeah, I think so too, John.
01:12 I totally agree with you.
01:13 And we've been talking about volatility.
01:15 I just wanted to hit it again today
01:16 because we did get up and over 18 yesterday.
01:19 We pulled right back.
01:20 Today, back up and over that 18 level again.
01:23 Do we get a little bit stickier?
01:25 Do we start moving up towards 20?
01:27 I think you and I decided yesterday
01:28 and maybe even previous to that
01:30 that the answer is probably, probably yes.
01:33 Especially given the backdrop
01:34 of what we're seeing with rates
01:36 and you bring up home prices.
01:38 How about some of those 30 year rates, John?
01:40 I mean, they're starting to get back up there
01:43 at a pretty high lofty level as well.
01:45 And that's gonna be interesting for sure.
01:48 - Absolutely.
01:49 And folks, how about this?
01:51 Get ready for it.
01:53 Fantastic futures.
01:56 Fantastic futures are not fantastic
01:59 if you've been long the TLT.
02:04 Now, what is the TLT?
02:05 It's the 20 year bond
02:08 that trades as an exchange traded fund or ETF.
02:11 It has lost almost 50% of its value
02:16 from its 2020 high, Pete.
02:18 That was the all time high in 2020.
02:21 Well, it has been going straight down since.
02:25 - Yeah, well, something that's not going straight down.
02:28 Matter of fact, it's kind of going straight up.
02:30 How about the two year?
02:31 How about the 10 year?
02:32 It's why you and I hammer through to people, John,
02:35 a lot of the things that we do.
02:37 We bring up things like volatility.
02:39 We bring up the price accrued.
02:40 We bring up the price of gold,
02:42 some of the rest of the commodity structure.
02:44 But how about when you look at that two year
02:46 and you're starting to say,
02:48 wait just a second here.
02:50 This is the highest level since March of 2006.
02:54 It's also the highest level since December 2006
02:58 for the 10 year.
02:59 So when you're looking at the 10 year at a 454
03:02 and you're looking over at the two year
03:03 and you're at 515 or more,
03:06 because it's been going up so quickly.
03:08 That's something that I think
03:10 is very concerning for the markets.
03:12 And that's why we are seeing some of the heavy selling, John,
03:15 in the NASDAQ specifically, but even in the Dow.
03:18 But you look over at the NASDAQ.
03:19 NASDAQ has been getting just absolutely hammered.
03:22 Why is that?
03:23 Because we're seeing these rates go higher.
03:25 People want to take a little bit of risk off
03:27 and that's exactly what's happening.
03:29 - Yeah.
03:30 And I'm happy I bought some puts yesterday, Pete.
03:33 We talked about on the QQQ,
03:36 I bought the 355 puts and sold the 343 puts.
03:41 So it's 12 points spread,
03:43 the differential between where I own it
03:45 and where I sold it.
03:47 And I think we're heading back down towards 325.
03:50 I hope I'm wrong,
03:51 but just in case I'll make a little money
03:53 on the way down there.
03:54 And remember folks,
03:56 you can make more money faster to the downside
03:59 nearly every time than you can to the upside.
04:03 So if you're somebody that's been sitting back thinking,
04:06 maybe I'll hold off on subscribing to this or that
04:09 over at Market Rebellion,
04:11 you do so at your own peril.
04:12 There are plenty of puts being bought across the board.
04:15 We've talked about the IWM,
04:17 we've talked about the QQQ and the SPY.
04:20 There are lots of broad market ways
04:22 you can play the downside with limited risk,
04:26 defined risk and yet massive four to one sorts of returns.
04:31 So just think about that
04:34 and check out marketrebellion.com/getstarted.
04:39 All right, Pete, let's talk about-
04:41 Oh, go ahead.
04:42 - John, I'm just gonna say to that point,
04:45 it's really interesting
04:46 because you come in on a day like today,
04:48 we weren't down as much as we are now,
04:50 we were down, but we were down 100 plus
04:51 and now all of a sudden it's 300.
04:53 But isn't it interesting to see
04:55 on the unusual option activity
04:56 that in the first 14, 15 hits that we had,
05:00 only two were bullish, the rest were bearish.
05:02 And a lot of those in ETFs,
05:04 like you brought up the Qs, but it's also the SPYders,
05:06 IWM, others as well.
05:08 So there is a, you know,
05:10 it's not like that smart money only plays to the upside.
05:13 They play to the upside, they play it to the downside,
05:16 they play it in the middle, all of it.
05:18 And so I think that's very important
05:19 for people to understand as well.
05:21 - Couldn't agree more.
05:24 All right, let's talk about IMVT
05:28 because this is one of those outliers, Pete,
05:30 that is up huge today.
05:32 IMVP,
05:33 IMVP
05:38 was up, Pete, as much as 88% earlier today,
05:43 just absolutely on fire.
05:46 And what is this?
05:47 Well, they've got a dose-dependent,
05:50 subcutaneously administered drug
05:53 that's doing extremely well in trials.
05:56 And for that reason,
05:58 they play to the upside.
06:00 You know what Pete always says,
06:02 so I'll let him say it, I won't steal his thunder,
06:04 but it's certainly bullish that they've got this,
06:08 but this isn't the same as delivering this thing
06:10 after a successful phase three, is it, Pete?
06:13 - No, and that's the important thing
06:15 that everybody should remember.
06:16 And it's not that you stay away from a stock like this
06:19 or a biotech like this specifically,
06:21 but it's something that you better have
06:23 in the back of your mind
06:24 because you've got this big pop.
06:25 It's a 52-week high.
06:26 In the first 90 minutes,
06:27 it traded 18 times normal volumes for an entire day,
06:32 trades about a million shares a day,
06:35 and already was well over 18 million
06:36 in the first 90 minutes.
06:38 Gives you a little bit of perspective.
06:39 So with all that being said, do they have a pipeline?
06:42 Yeah, they got a pretty nice pipeline.
06:44 Very little in terms of at the final stages,
06:48 but when you've got great results
06:50 from some of the early stage stuff,
06:52 like we're seeing now, phase one, phase two type of thing,
06:56 that's meaningful.
06:56 It's great, it's fantastic,
06:58 but it doesn't mean you're over the finish line yet.
07:01 And I think that's something that always should be thought
07:04 of when people are looking at something like this.
07:06 Should this be a company that somebody else
07:08 all of a sudden starts tapping around and looking at it,
07:10 maybe a Merck or whomever else out there, John,
07:13 who's got cash, wants to take a look at this company
07:15 and try to see is this thing really the real deal?
07:18 Well, everything that they've shown so far is great.
07:21 And we're really happy about that.
07:23 We all should be happy about that
07:25 because this is all about our health.
07:27 This subcutaneous treatment that they're talking about here
07:30 is something really, really cool.
07:32 And hopefully it continues on all the way to phase three,
07:35 but we're not there yet.
07:36 So just keep that in mind and understand that.
07:38 If you want to play in this pool,
07:41 my guess would be that if they've got them,
07:43 you're going to want to have some puts to protect yourself
07:45 on the downside just in case things don't go well
07:48 in the next couple of phases.
07:50 Well, that leads us right into another one, Pete.
07:53 PLRX.
07:56 This one, very positive news as well.
08:00 It was up 17 to $17.50 or so today, Pete.
08:04 Right now it's like $16.20 or so.
08:08 So obviously, it's come off.
08:10 That's still a 10% rally.
08:11 So for anybody who's got some, congratulations.
08:15 But they also have a clinical trial
08:19 that is meeting with some success.
08:21 But same thing, it is not phase three.
08:25 So there's a lot of burn that goes between phase one,
08:29 phase two, and a positive completion of phase three.
08:33 A lot of things can go right.
08:34 Some things can go wrong.
08:36 So if you're playing, like Pete said,
08:38 this is deep into the pool, folks.
08:40 But when it hits, it does like IMVT.
08:44 And it goes up 85%.
08:46 When it doesn't, it might go down just as fast.
08:49 Yeah, Appliant Therapeutics, John.
08:51 It's pretty interesting.
08:52 They actually have five separate programs working right now.
08:55 Two of them are already at phase two at this point in time
08:58 as far as some of these clinical trials that we talk about.
09:00 And it's an area that we love.
09:02 Our father was in it forever.
09:04 I had, to some degree, had some parts of that
09:07 because there was experimental testing going on with drugs
09:10 oftentimes when I was pre-med and working
09:12 on some of this stuff.
09:13 It's really exciting.
09:14 And what they're doing, I think, is outstanding.
09:16 Here's the good news.
09:17 They have a great balance sheet.
09:18 They don't have any worries about anything right now, John,
09:21 when I look at it.
09:22 Their cash burn is really low.
09:25 They've got plenty of cash.
09:26 So that part is not a concern.
09:28 I guess the only concerns that you'd have is,
09:30 you've got to get some of these through these clinical trials
09:34 and get those to the finish line, just like everybody else.
09:37 But you've got to do that.
09:39 It's a stock that was beaten up.
09:41 We were just at 52-week lows before this latest news
09:45 that things are going a little bit better here
09:47 in this particular phase.
09:49 So we'll see how this goes, John.
09:50 But this is a stock that was 14 and 1/2, 52-week low,
09:54 all the way up to 36.30 for the 52-week highs.
09:57 We're only at 16 and change.
09:59 So we're on the low end.
10:00 And we're off of that lowest end.
10:02 So this is something that, if it can start to run,
10:05 there's plenty of room to the upside.
10:07 And you're a little bit closer to the finish line right now.
10:10 Not at a finish line, but you're a little bit closer.
10:13 Yep, and this is a 12-week trial, folks.
10:17 They did it, of course, against a placebo,
10:20 which means more or less a sugar pill or whatever.
10:23 And it was successful.
10:25 So that's great.
10:26 Now we've got to get to the next phase.
10:28 We're not throwing cold water on them.
10:29 We're just saying it might not be a bad time
10:32 to protect yourself a little bit.
10:36 All right, how about United Natural Foods, Pete?
10:39 UNFI.
10:41 This one, they reported a loss of $0.25.
10:45 That's not good.
10:46 But they were expected to lose almost 50, so about half.
10:51 That's good.
10:52 But you know what?
10:53 The revenue was a little bit light.
10:56 And the guidance, well, that was well below estimates.
11:00 And if you don't destroy the upside
11:04 and have a little bit of a miss on guidance,
11:07 you're going to go down.
11:08 If you have a big miss on guidance,
11:10 they're going to hammer you.
11:11 And that's what they're doing right now.
11:13 It's down 23% at the lows of the day.
11:16 Yeah, stock is getting absolutely hammered, John.
11:18 It's too bad.
11:19 It's 52-week lows.
11:20 They just couldn't execute well enough.
11:23 And you're losing money.
11:24 They'd lose $0.25.
11:25 You say, yeah, but it's better than the $0.47
11:28 they were projecting.
11:28 Well, a year ago, they earned 1 and 1/4, not negative,
11:33 positive.
11:33 So this is a company that certainly
11:36 has a lot of pressure on it right now to actually perform.
11:40 And they're just not doing it.
11:41 And then when you give that guidance
11:43 and you don't quite hit the numbers
11:44 that you're looking for, that's just one more excuse
11:47 for folks to say, you know what?
11:48 I'll come back another time.
11:50 I'm going to start selling.
11:51 I want to get out.
11:52 And organic food loss here, this is a problem.
11:56 And I'll tell you what, United National,
11:58 it's an interesting company.
12:00 They had been doing pretty well.
12:01 But it's changed a little bit.
12:03 Maybe it's the economy.
12:04 Maybe it is a lot of different things.
12:05 But whatever it is right now, this
12:07 is a name that hit 52-week lows today.
12:11 That's never a good thing.
12:12 We'll see if there's any kind of bounce.
12:14 But with that guidance, John, they're
12:16 going to have to prove it next quarter now.
12:18 They're going to have to prove that they can do a little bit
12:20 better even than whatever their terrible guidance was.
12:23 And then maybe, just maybe, this stock starts
12:26 moving to the upside again.
12:27 Yeah.
12:28 For me right now, Pete, even though it's 52-week lows,
12:31 it's a no touch.
12:33 Not a never touch, but just a no touch.
12:36 I'm going to give it a couple of days to stabilize.
12:39 All right, let's talk about SNX.
12:42 And the reason I saw this one, Pete,
12:44 was I was looking around at Logitech, L-O-G-I.
12:47 It's a big Swiss company.
12:48 They make mice and other things, keyboards, wireless keyboards,
12:53 all that kind of stuff.
12:54 And I said, why are they down so hard?
12:56 Well, and then I looked over at SNX.
12:59 And they sell a lot of those peripherals.
13:02 And they sell cell phones and computers and computer parts
13:05 like Logitech makes.
13:07 And they are down hard today.
13:10 They beat on the bottom line number.
13:13 The revenue was basically in line.
13:15 But the guidance, once again, was not
13:17 where it needs to be, Pete.
13:19 And that's why it's hands out.
13:21 They're selling, although it is bouncing a little.
13:23 I'll give them that.
13:24 Was down 8%.
13:26 Then it was down 6%.
13:27 Now it's down 4%.
13:28 So it's making a little bit of a comeback, Pete.
13:31 Well, and when you look at the fundamental side of it, John,
13:34 and you see the cash flow just under a billion dollars,
13:37 $850 million or $885 million in free cash flow, not so bad.
13:43 When you look at earnings year over year,
13:45 last year it was like $274.
13:48 This year it's $278.
13:49 It's nothing to sneeze at either.
13:52 At least they're kind of hanging in there to some degree.
13:54 But you got to have a little bit more than that.
13:56 And you mentioned guidance.
13:57 We talk about some of the competition that's out there.
14:00 They've just got to do things a little bit better.
14:02 Let's not forget, this stock was a lot closer to the 52-week
14:05 highs before today than it was the lows.
14:08 And because of that, it's eased back for sure.
14:11 But just like you said, it was down 8%, then 6%.
14:14 Now it's only about 4%.
14:16 So I think people are looking at it saying, all right,
14:18 maybe we were a little bit too rough on these guys.
14:21 And maybe there's a little bit of a chance for something
14:24 a little bit more into the future.
14:25 And when I look at that free cash flow
14:27 and I look at the balance sheet, that
14:29 does make me say, hmm, there's a shot here maybe.
14:32 Just a shot.
14:33 But it's not something where it's a no touch
14:36 like we were talking about with some of these other names.
14:39 I agree.
14:40 Well, let's dive into sports, Pete,
14:42 because we're looking at a market that's kind of sucky.
14:45 So maybe we can pick up people's spirits with the sports.
14:49 Well, let's start this way, John.
14:50 Let's start with a little bit of college football.
14:52 And I find this interesting in a year.
14:54 And we've kind of touched on this a little bit.
14:57 And my partner Dave Schwartz and I
15:00 on a radio show on Sunday mornings
15:02 talked about this as well.
15:04 How about this for the year that the Pac-12, in my opinion,
15:07 is the best conference in all of college football?
15:10 Now, it's now the Pac-2, because the only ones left
15:13 are Oregon State and Washington State at the end of this year.
15:15 You've got UCLA and USC coming to the Big Ten.
15:19 And you've got Washington and Oregon.
15:21 And then you've got others.
15:23 Utah's going here and there.
15:24 Everybody's leaving to go somewhere, right?
15:26 But the curious thing that I've got for you
15:29 is, are they as good as we think?
15:31 My answer is yes.
15:33 I look at the University of Washington ranked number seven.
15:36 They have the number one offense this year in college football.
15:40 Passing, as far as yardage, all around,
15:43 as far as the yardage for running and passing.
15:46 These guys are absolutely crushing people, John.
15:49 They're averaging 50 points a game.
15:51 USC's averaging 55 points a game.
15:53 They're number eight.
15:54 Oregon's number nine.
15:55 We all know what happened with them
15:57 with Colorado this past week.
15:58 We don't need to burn a-- well, anyway, I'll say real quick.
16:02 It's not about clicks.
16:04 It's about wins.
16:05 And that's what Oregon does.
16:07 They win a hell of a lot of football games.
16:09 By the way, John, I don't know how this even
16:11 is a possibility.
16:12 But they supposedly have 350 different combinations
16:17 for uniforms at the University of Oregon,
16:19 because their donor, Nike, hands them basically
16:22 whatever they want.
16:23 So that's not a bad recruiting tool either.
16:26 And we've seen that.
16:27 It's been around for a while.
16:28 You've got Dion with the voice, but you've
16:30 got these guys with Nike.
16:32 So there's a lot of different schools
16:33 taking different approaches.
16:35 How about this, the Pac-12?
16:36 Four of the top six quarterbacks for this coming year's draft
16:41 are from the Pac-12.
16:43 So it shows you a little bit of something about that.
16:46 You've got Utah.
16:46 You've got Washington State at number 16.
16:48 Oregon State, who finally lost their first loss of the year,
16:52 they're number 19.
16:53 They're all in the top 20, John.
16:55 So do you think I'm nuts to think
16:58 that the Pac-12 in their final year,
16:59 this could be their best year ever maybe?
17:03 No, I don't think you're wrong.
17:05 Certainly as the Pac-12.
17:06 As the Pac-8, it's probably not the best year compared
17:10 to some of those USC teams beat.
17:13 Or even as the Pac-10, some of those Stanford teams
17:16 when your buddy was coaching there
17:19 who now happens to be wearing maize and gold over at Michigan.
17:23 Mr. Harbaugh.
17:25 And I say buddy, I know you guys are friendly,
17:28 but he's probably not that much of a buddy of yours.
17:33 But take a look at this, Pete.
17:34 He should have gotten the Viking interview, John.
17:36 He should have--
17:37 He should have.
17:38 He should have taken the Viking job.
17:39 They should have given him at least the offer.
17:41 He was flying around, all that stuff.
17:43 But anyway, go on.
17:44 I'm sorry.
17:45 But that was one--
17:46 I think the Vikings really screwed up on that whole thing.
17:49 I agree.
17:50 Well, the best team in the Pac-10, Pete,
17:53 isn't Oregon, as you probably know.
17:55 Or maybe you would argue with me.
17:57 I'm not sure.
17:58 But it's Utah.
18:00 And Utah beat Florida.
18:02 They were a ranked team.
18:04 They beat Baylor.
18:05 They were not ranked, but they eked one out,
18:08 let's say, against Baylor.
18:10 They beat up on Weber State, big deal.
18:13 And then they beat UCLA, one of the better teams out there.
18:17 So I think they've played more real teams,
18:20 if we take Weber State off that group, Pete,
18:23 than anybody in the Pac-10.
18:25 Now, they're going to have to play Oregon State.
18:27 Like you said, they just lost.
18:29 But they're still a top-20 team.
18:31 They play that Saturday.
18:33 And then they play Cal, the Cal Golden Bears, after a week off.
18:37 So I am thinking Utah is the best team, Pete.
18:41 They beat USC twice.
18:43 But that was last year.
18:44 Just like TCU, like you said, that was last year.
18:47 That was a really good TCU team last year, not so good this
18:51 year.
18:51 I think Utah is the best in the West.
18:54 What do you think?
18:55 I would say to you that I really love them.
18:58 I think they're the toughest son of a guns
19:00 I've ever seen play football.
19:01 And I'm not exaggerating to say that.
19:03 I mean, that is a really tough football team.
19:06 And they're aggressive.
19:07 The only problem that they've got right now, John--
19:10 and you're right about everything you said.
19:11 The only concern I'd have is they have a hard time
19:14 scoring points.
19:15 Their offense is not the offense that they were last year.
19:18 They had a great tight end, went to the NFL.
19:20 They've got a great quarterback who's been hurt this year.
19:23 So the backup's been playing.
19:25 If they're healthy, this team gets an offense back
19:28 because they just aren't scoring touchdowns.
19:30 They're not scoring enough touchdowns.
19:31 They're scoring enough to win.
19:33 But they're not scoring enough to dominate.
19:35 And so I think that would be my one concern.
19:38 Because you play a USC or an Oregon or a Washington
19:41 or Washington State, they're going
19:42 to put up points on anybody.
19:45 But the matter of it ends up, can you outscore them?
19:48 And I think Utah, with their quarterback who's been hurt,
19:52 and you know what?
19:53 Then they can score.
19:54 Right now, they're struggling on that side of it.
19:56 But they're tough as nails, there's no doubt.
19:58 How about the NFL, John?
19:59 How about a quickie here?
20:01 Who is the most dominant team this year in the NFL
20:05 that nobody's really discussing right now?
20:08 And I mean, everybody says Miami, including me and you.
20:13 Most everybody says the 49ers, including me and you.
20:17 But who are the teams that-- and I got two of them
20:19 in my mind right now--
20:21 are teams that aren't getting respect, and boy, are they
20:24 good.
20:25 And for the right reasons, maybe they're
20:27 not getting the respect, John.
20:29 But I'll start with the Buffalo Bills.
20:31 Because they lost the opening game to the Jets.
20:34 And they played a terrible game, a lot of turnovers.
20:37 I think our quarterback might have
20:40 thrown three or four interceptions
20:42 or something in that game.
20:43 It was terrible.
20:44 He had a terrible performance.
20:45 It wasn't his game at all, for whatever reason.
20:48 Josh Allen, who's a great quarterback,
20:50 but he'll force the ball.
20:51 Because he's got that ego that you want a quarterback to have.
20:55 You want a guy who's 6'5", 245 pounds.
20:59 You like when he runs the ball, because he
21:02 ain't your average quarterback and everything.
21:04 He's a leader.
21:05 But John, what if I told you that Buffalo, they've
21:08 got 91 points so far this year on offense.
21:14 And they've only played three games.
21:16 And once they've gotten the turnovers figured out,
21:19 this is a team that's only given up 35 points in the first three
21:22 games.
21:23 So their defense is playing at a high level,
21:25 giving up about a little over 10 or 11 points a game.
21:28 The offense is definitely playing at a high level,
21:30 scoring about 30 points a game.
21:32 And the other one I'd go to is Cleveland Browns.
21:35 I mean, John, that defense, you and I
21:38 being defensive guys who love watching real football,
21:41 not just this video game like--
21:44 I mean, I love the Dolphins, but that's video game football
21:47 there.
21:47 I mean, there's no defense being played.
21:50 Defenses haven't really played in the NFL
21:52 over the last few years, other than a select few.
21:55 And I'll tell you this.
21:56 Cleveland is going to be one of those this year.
21:59 In these first three games, they have dominated.
22:02 And a little fellow by the name of Miles Garrett
22:05 is probably showing now that he is the best
22:08 defensive end in the game.
22:11 And I love the Bosa brothers.
22:13 I love the Watts.
22:14 I love all these guys, right?
22:17 But that son of a gun, John, for a guy
22:19 who's going out to plays and musicals
22:22 and all this other poetry and everything else that he does,
22:25 he might be the meanest man on the field.
22:27 And if you didn't see this, I'll just tell you.
22:29 It's worth watching.
22:30 This past week, when they were playing their most recent game,
22:33 he lined up on the right side.
22:35 They put two tight ends on him.
22:37 He ran over to the left side.
22:38 They brought the other two tight ends back over to him.
22:41 He ran back over to the right side.
22:42 Those two tight ends went over.
22:44 They finally had to call a timeout or got a penalty,
22:47 because they can't trust anybody but at least two blockers
22:52 to be on Miles Garrett.
22:53 Now, I haven't even seen--
22:55 I haven't seen Micah Parsons get that kind of attention.
22:58 And I'm not even sure I remember LT getting
23:00 that kind of attention, John.
23:02 I mean, this kid is unbelievable how he's
23:06 played his career and this year.
23:08 Do you like those two, or do you got somebody else,
23:10 or what do you think?
23:11 Well, I like those--
23:12 I like that player, Miles Garrett.
23:14 And Mr. Donald, I was watching him last night
23:19 with Monday Night Football, Pete,
23:20 and still nobody can block that guy.
23:22 Nobody blocks that guy.
23:24 I mean, it's just terrible or wonderful,
23:28 depending on which team you're rooting for.
23:30 I'm going to throw a team out to you, though, Pete.
23:32 I'm going to throw out the Green Bay Packers,
23:34 because this one, nobody saw him coming.
23:37 Oh, they lost Aaron Rodgers.
23:39 They've got this guy playing, and we don't even
23:42 know if he's going to be with the team at the end of the year.
23:45 The guy might be in the Pro Bowl at the end of the year, Pete.
23:49 I mean, look at this.
23:51 So they beat the Seahawks.
23:54 Then they beat the Bears, big deal, right?
23:57 We all know the Bears suck.
23:59 But they lose by 1 to the Falcons.
24:03 They beat the Saints.
24:05 And now they've got what might be
24:07 one of the best Thursday night games of the year,
24:11 the Packers against the Lions.
24:13 So I am really excited for both those two teams, Pete.
24:16 But I'm especially interested to see
24:18 how Green Bay and their quarterback
24:21 handle the Lions with some of the best pass rush.
24:25 They're not Miles Garrett.
24:27 They're not the absolute best.
24:29 But they're really, really good.
24:31 And they are some mean SOBs on that Lions defense.
24:35 So if he's for real and he can put the Lions down,
24:39 Pete, I'm not going to say crown him.
24:41 But I am going to say that he might be ready to take them
24:46 deep into the playoffs.
24:47 Well, that's a great call by you, John,
24:50 because I hadn't even thought about it.
24:52 But I will say this.
24:53 The one thing I had thought about
24:55 was how wrong I've been on Jordan Love.
24:59 Because I didn't like anything about him getting
25:01 drafted in the first round.
25:03 I didn't like anything about the competition
25:05 he played against in college at Utah State.
25:08 I mean, it's not Utah.
25:10 It was Utah State, right?
25:11 So I mean, there's a lot of things
25:13 about going into this year where I'm like, wow.
25:16 This guy, he's a fraud and everything else.
25:19 And that's on me.
25:21 Because so far, John, he looks like one
25:24 of the more athletic quarterbacks,
25:25 the way he moves in the pocket, the way
25:27 he can make a running play if he has to.
25:30 But he's also got the patience to get the ball out
25:33 of his hands.
25:33 And the other thing, John, that nobody's really
25:35 talking enough about, that is like a MASH unit
25:38 on that offensive line that he's got.
25:41 And he's still in there playing at a high level like he is
25:45 and finding the receivers and the running backs
25:47 and everything he's done.
25:49 I mean, I don't think that they've
25:50 had more than two of the regular starters
25:54 on the field this year so far in the three games they've played.
25:57 You look at their IR sheet, or at least the players that
26:00 are not playing each week, and you go, well, Bakhtiari once
26:04 again, out.
26:05 This guy, out.
26:06 Another guy, out.
26:07 And the next thing you know, you go, well,
26:09 how the hell are these guys going to compete?
26:11 And yet they do.
26:12 I mean, so I like what you're saying.
26:14 And I've always liked Detroit.
26:16 Love the coach.
26:17 No matter what happens the rest of their season or years
26:20 that he's there, Dan Campbell's the best coach in the NFL.
26:24 I mean, I love everything about him
26:26 because he's everything the NFL is not.
26:30 And that's what makes him great.
26:32 And if I were a GM, I'd hire that guy to be my head coach
26:36 because you know what?
26:37 It still is about defense, and he knows it.
26:40 It's also about having the right players on offense
26:43 and knowing how to run or pass, not just get sucked
26:46 into one or the other, but knowing
26:48 when to do one or the other.
26:50 That guy is-- he's doing it right, John, and I love him.
26:55 He's a special coach, Pete.
26:56 The players love him.
26:58 And just like you said, anybody that really
27:01 loves watching defense, as well as just good hard-nosed
27:04 football, loves this guy.
27:06 Let me throw this out, Pete.
27:08 Jordan Love came back from a 17-zip deficit
27:12 against the Saints.
27:13 And granted, the quarterback, Carr, was a little dinged up,
27:19 but they came back from 17-zip and beat him 18-17.
27:23 And he had the number one passer rating in the league
27:28 with a 118.9.
27:31 Like I said--
27:31 So like I say, for those of you who are saying--
27:36 I'm eating humble pie, John.
27:37 That's all I wanted to say.
27:38 I'm eating humble pie because I'm the first guy who--
27:42 it's like early.
27:42 I was the first guy on the bandwagon with Deion,
27:45 but I was the first guy off.
27:47 And it's starting to get a little crowded with me
27:49 now because people realize, oh, maybe that Najarian guy
27:52 was right.
27:52 This guy, he's a great talker, but that team ain't that great.
27:57 And I think people are following that.
27:59 Jordan Love, I was wrong.
28:00 That guy, he's showing us that he is a real deal.
28:04 I agree.
28:05 Well, if you want more of The Real Deal, folks,
28:08 tune in tomorrow at 1 PM Eastern time.
28:11 Pete Najarian and I will be back with The Rebel's Edge.
28:15 Thank you for watching.
28:16 Tell a friend, and we'll see you tomorrow.
