00:00 The Asian Curry Awards, known as the Curry Oscars, return on the 19th of November 2023
00:05 and a shortlist of over 200 venues across the UK will now be whittled down to 100 by
00:10 you, the online voting public.
00:13 Leeds Takeaway's Indian Fusion in Beeston and Liraj Takeaway in Bramhope have made the
00:19 shortlist alongside Lala's Pudsey, which we recently visited when it was nominated in
00:24 and eventually won in the Leeds category of the British Restaurant Awards 2023.
00:30 Just now we can meet Suresh and Srini, the founders of Indian Tiffin Room in Leeds, who
00:35 are also on the shortlist.
00:36 Together, me and Srini founded Indian Tiffin Room back in 2013 and our first outlet was
00:43 in Cheadle, Stockport, where we are right now.
00:47 So since then, the journey has begun from 2013 in Cheadle, 2016, early 2016 in Manchester,
00:54 and Leeds was our third opening, which was in Greek Street in 2018.
01:00 Our menu is comprised of all street food from all parts of India, so East, West, North,
01:05 South.
01:06 So from the South, we have the dosas, from the North, we have bhaturas, and also from
01:12 the West, we have Bombay, which is another great scene for street food, we have pav bhaji,
01:18 and from the East, we've got fish fries.
01:20 So we've got all parts of Indian street food amalgamated in one small menu that we serve,
01:27 and people have come to know, we have educated people on what real Indian street food is.
01:31 We're quite excited to be nominated in these award ceremonies, and it's a reflection on
01:37 all the hard work that has been put through by the team, and making sure the service is
01:42 absolutely perfect, and the food and the flavors hit the right palates.
01:47 And that is the hard work that the team has been working on, and we're proud of what we've
01:51 achieved and being nominated in these things.
01:53 These are little accolades that keeps us motivated.
01:54 Me and Srini are very well focused on looking after the team.
01:59 The ethos that we follow in the company is also quite customer-faced, but also behind
02:04 the scenes, we are very focused on our team as well.
02:08 So it's about training and keeping them motivated to keep going day in, day out, because the
02:13 service that we expect the team to deliver is quite of high standards, where me and Srini
02:17 come from as well.
02:18 We set out to teach our customers that Indian food is all about flavors, not just being
02:23 judged on chili spice.
02:25 That is what we've set out to achieve, and that is what we've achieved so far, and that
02:29 brings us great accolades and great recognition through.
02:32 The shortlisted venues will be assessed by a panel of judges from the Asian Catering
02:36 Federation who will determine the category winners, which will be announced at a ceremony
02:40 in London in November.
