00:00The first ever Yorkshire Curry Awards 2024 will be taking place on Monday the 8th of
00:06July at the Bradford Hotel. Organisers Oceanic Consulting have published details of the finalists,
00:12with several Leeds venues nominated. As well as there being a Best in Leeds accolade, Leeds
00:18venues have also been nominated in an array of categories. They include Fine Dining Indian
00:23Restaurant of the Year, Cafe of the Year, Neighbourhood Restaurant of the Year, Kitchen
00:28of the Year, Most Wanted Indian Restaurant of the Year and Takeaway and Home Delivery
00:33of the Year. Ahead of the awards we've been discovering some of your favourite curries.
00:38My family eats curry and there's a spicy one. Spicy ones are good if people like spicy but
00:45if they don't they should just get a normal one.
00:48My favourite is the Chicken Tikka Dhopiaza but yeah I tend to stick to the same dish
00:51every time really. I don't experiment on that one.
00:55A very long time ago I tried cooking curry. It wasn't too bad. It wasn't too good either.

01:15I know that the Tikka Masala is like a key British dish. It's like one that I've heard
01:21described as the national food of the UK and I do love a Tikka Masala with that tandoori
01:26flavour to it. But I think my favourite curry dish is, I actually don't know what it's called.
01:31My brother married an Indian girl and her family's from Mombasa in Africa. They're Sikh
01:38and they make, so they're vegetarian, but they make this curry that's got green beans
01:43and eggplant and whenever I describe it to friends or students who have Indian families
01:52they're like, oh yeah, and they tell me what the name is but I cannot remember what it
01:55is. But that's delicious. It has potatoes in it.
