00:02 - Welcome back to another episode of Getting the Upper Land,
00:12 where we give you a rundown of some of our top stories.
00:15 I'm livestock editor, Rebecca Naj.
00:17 - And I'm senior journalist, Dennis Howard.
00:20 Well, Beth, we've been doing these reps
00:21 for the past six weeks.
00:22 What's really stood out for you?
00:24 - Probably just that even close friends and family
00:27 get sick of seeing our faces on their screens.
00:29 - It seems a bit hard to believe, but there you go.
00:31 - Is that why you're trying to cover your face?
00:34 - If that's the case, we should be doing
00:35 a much better job with your hair.
00:37 In news this week, I talked to a young couple
00:40 who believe they're custodians of the land
00:42 and not just farmers.
00:44 They bought their first property at Stubbo near Galgaon
00:46 and they're very much into soil restoration.
00:48 - That was a good read, actually.
00:50 And it's a great shot on the cover.
00:52 - Did you just give me a compliment?
00:54 Are you feeling okay?
00:56 - Well, clearly not.
00:57 - Another good story takes a look
00:59 at this week's prime cattle market,
01:01 which saw further price reductions across all types.
01:04 - Yeah, that was the market's lead story by Stephen Burns.
01:07 What else is happening in livestock, Beth?
01:09 - I chat with Brett Littler from the local land services
01:12 about how producers can prepare for a dry season.
01:15 His message is to have a plan and follow it through.
01:18 There's already a lot of dead feed around
01:19 and many producers are guilty of supplementing
01:22 several weeks too late.
01:23 - Yeah, that's a very good point.
01:25 What else is happening?
01:26 We've also got a good story by Bryce Eisold
01:28 from the Stock and Land team
01:30 who interviews Elders Studstock agent, Ryan Bejada,
01:33 who's about to be based out of Wagga.
01:35 Ryan talks about his upbringing in Malta
01:37 and how it's contributed to the career he has today.
01:40 - We also have a story from Jemison Murphy
01:42 from the national team who takes a look at calls
01:45 for a rural health overhaul.
01:47 State premiers believe the issue has become too vast
01:50 for one government to be able to handle.
01:52 - We've also got a wrap of the results from ECCA
01:54 where some of our New South Wales exhibitors
01:56 really did us proud.
01:58 Plus keep an eye out for comments
01:59 from international show judge, PJ Budler,
02:02 who talks about the disconnect between showing
02:04 and the commercial cattle industry.
02:06 - As always, the land is available
02:08 from all good news agencies.
02:09 - And you can jump online at theland.com.au.
02:12 And don't forget to like us on Facebook
02:14 and follow us on Instagram.
02:17 - See you next week.
02:17 - See ya.
