00:57 - Hi, I'm Mark Oberon,
01:00 and thanks for purchasing Clean Cash.
01:03 I'm going to start off by explaining
01:04 how to assemble the gimmick.
01:07 After that, we'll go on to three different
01:09 performance methods, easy, intermediate, and advanced.
01:14 After each performance, I'll run through it three times
01:17 slowly from the performer's viewpoint
01:20 in order for you to learn along with the DVD.
01:22 There'll also be a section on turning the note
01:26 back to white, and then finally,
01:28 a section on handing out the note for examination
01:31 by peeling off the gimmick.
01:33 Okay, great, let's get started.
01:37 (upbeat music)
01:39 Okay, I'm now going to explain the construction
01:51 of the Clean Cash gimmick using a $20 version.
01:56 First of all, we need to cut along this line
01:59 all the way around here,
02:01 and this will end up with a rectangle.
02:03 But it won't be a perfect rectangle
02:04 because here to here is two millimeters longer
02:10 than from here to here.
02:11 This is very important for reasons
02:14 that will be understood later.
02:16 Okay.
02:18 Cut very carefully along the line.
02:22 (upbeat music)
02:25 (knife scraping)
02:27 (knife scraping)
02:30 (knife scraping)
02:33 (knife scraping)
03:02 I'm going to fold this now both directions.
03:05 And when I fold this way along the edge of the note here,
03:11 so we're meeting perfectly there,
03:15 you will see that there is a millimeter
03:18 protruding here and here.
03:20 That is actually the way it should be,
03:23 and very important.
03:26 Okay.
03:29 Score there.
03:30 (knife scraping)
03:33 And there.
03:34 And now I'm going to fold along here.
03:37 (knife scraping)
03:40 And corner to corner.
03:41 (knife scraping)
03:44 And I like to, yeah,
03:50 score with my fingernails like this.
03:55 And fold back again.
03:58 (knife scraping)
04:01 This breaks the fold.
04:03 I'll do the same with the $20 note.
04:06 (upbeat music)
04:09 (knife scraping)
04:11 (knife scraping)
04:14 (knife scraping)
04:17 (knife scraping)
04:20 (knife scraping)
04:22 (knife scraping)
04:51 And I'm going to glue the gimmick onto the note.
04:54 So you fold this like that.
04:57 And we're going to be applying glue to this side.
05:02 I'm going to use a spray mount, which is repositionable.
05:09 And I'm going to aim it in this area.
05:14 Okay.
05:18 (upbeat music)
05:21 Now this is going to go there.
05:31 See where it fits like a jigsaw puzzle.
05:34 This point here, that corner is going to go
05:37 just under that corner exactly.
05:39 When I say exactly, I mean just ever so slightly
05:44 this side of it.
05:46 And you don't want it sticking over the top like that.
05:49 If they see any white coming over the top,
05:51 that'll be a giveaway.
05:52 We want to go just on the edge,
05:55 but let's say a 50th of a millimeter in.
06:02 There we go.
06:05 Perfect.
06:07 Now,
06:13 (upbeat music)
06:16 as I look here, I can see a little bit of white protruding.
06:22 So I'm just going to trim that off.
06:25 Being careful not to cut the note
06:30 or the part of the gimmick.
06:33 Just going to trim that little bit of white off.
06:38 (upbeat music)
06:41 That's better.
06:43 Right.
06:45 Okay.
06:49 Perfect.
06:51 There are three handlings for clean cache.
07:08 The easy version, the intermediate version,
07:11 and the advanced version.
07:13 Here is the easy version.
07:15 Okay, this is the explanation for the easy version.
07:27 In the top right hand corner,
07:33 the actual real note is folded.
07:36 There it is.
07:38 Okay, I'm pinching this corner here to keep it down,
07:42 my right finger and thumb.
07:45 Now the first part is to fold from left to right there.
07:51 The audience, from their point of view,
07:54 all they've seen is that.
07:56 So left to right,
07:57 and then we're going to fold the top down there,
08:02 but we're going to do it in a covering action like that.
08:08 And this is the moment that we reveal the change.
08:12 So,
08:12 looks something like this, there,
08:17 and then there.
08:20 And at this point we open up,
08:23 and we open up in the following way.
08:26 There are four corners.
08:27 The first corner is, this is the thick one.
08:31 And then there are three loose corners of the note.
08:36 One, two, three.
08:37 And to open the note,
08:40 we immediately pull back the thick corner,
08:43 and with the right forefinger,
08:45 scoop into that gap and move it to the right.
08:50 That opens up the note in one flow.
08:52 So,
08:54 let's start again.
08:56 We go left to right.
08:58 We do the change.
09:00 We immediately scoop and open out like that.
09:05 The next thing we're going to do is rotate the bill.
09:09 Now,
09:10 when they see the back of the bill,
09:13 they must see it just very briefly
09:15 because we don't want them noticing this gimmick.
09:18 So,
09:20 I turn it round in the flow.
09:22 The danger points are this point here and this point there.
09:28 So I make sure that I keep them trapped down.
09:33 So my left thumb is trapping here
09:35 and my right second finger is trapping here.
09:39 As I turn and then
09:41 display like that.
09:43 (upbeat music)
09:46 (upbeat music)
09:48 (upbeat music)
09:51 (upbeat music)
09:54 (upbeat music)
09:56 (upbeat music)
09:59 (upbeat music)
10:01 (upbeat music)
10:04 (upbeat music)
10:06 (upbeat music)
10:09 This is the intermediate version.
10:36 (upbeat music)
10:39 This is the explanation for the intermediate version.
10:46 The note is folded in the top right hand corner
10:51 like that to begin with.
10:52 And this is what the audience sees.
10:56 So we fold the blank part from left to right.
10:59 And then we're going to fold the top bit down,
11:04 but we're going to do it this time with one hand.
11:07 And as before with the easy version,
11:13 we peel back the thick corner,
11:15 scoop in with the right finger,
11:18 turn to reveal a note like that.
11:20 So that's like this.
11:27 There.
11:30 (upbeat music)
11:32 (upbeat music)
11:35 (upbeat music)
11:37 (upbeat music)
11:40 (upbeat music)
11:43 (upbeat music)
11:45 (upbeat music)
11:48 (upbeat music)
11:59 (upbeat music)
12:07 (upbeat music)
12:15 (upbeat music)
12:17 This is the advanced version.
12:24 This is the explanation for the advanced version.
12:37 Okay, as with all versions,
12:39 the note is folded in the top right hand corner.
12:42 After the advanced version,
12:43 we need to make a slight adjustment.
12:45 There are three loose corners,
12:49 one, two, three.
12:52 Well, the first two,
12:54 I'm going to fold the corner down like that.
12:58 So it's now like a unit.
13:01 Okay, and I leave the third corner still protruding.
13:05 So I fold left to right,
13:11 and I'm gonna pinch with my left thumb
13:13 on that third corner, which I didn't fold.
13:16 And now for this transformation,
13:21 I'm actually going to move my thumb into this gap here.
13:26 As I cover the note with my left fingers,
13:33 and I'm going to raise my hand up,
13:36 and because the thumb is in the gap,
13:38 it'll bring that flap up to here.
13:42 From the audience point of view, nothing's changed.
13:47 But now I can come down like this,
13:53 and reveal a very nice change,
13:58 which I'll do it from here.
14:02 There, it's a little difficult.
14:04 I'll just have to turn around a little.
14:06 There, to there.
14:11 And then we open up, of course.
14:14 So once again, we close left to right,
14:20 grip that third corner with the left thumb,
14:23 and then in with the left thumb,
14:27 as we flow the left hand up.
14:31 And this finger here makes contact with that corner point.
14:36 When I feel that, that's when I know to start moving down
14:40 and grip with my right finger and thumb here,
14:46 as the left hand opens it out.
14:49 And then immediately peel back with the left forefinger,
14:56 the thick end, come through, open, grip,
15:04 turn, like that.
15:07 (gentle music)
15:10 (gentle music continues)
15:13 (gentle music continues)
15:17 (gentle music continues)
15:20 (gentle music continues)
15:24 (gentle music continues)
15:27 I'm now going to show you the handling
15:53 to return the note to the blank piece of paper.
15:57 I guess it's kind of illogical
15:58 that you would change a 20 pound note
15:59 into a blank piece of paper,
16:01 but you might have a routine
16:03 where that seems to be the way.
16:05 And so I'm going to explain it.
16:07 I'll perform it first.
16:10 This is the explanation for changing the note
16:16 back to the blank paper.
16:19 We fold the right side of the note to the left,
16:23 and I need to get my right finger
16:27 underneath these three corners,
16:30 three corners, one, two, three.
16:32 The way I do that is by pinching just below the corners
16:36 with my second finger and thumb and moving away.
16:40 And that gives me access with this finger into there.
16:47 And now the left hand comes and covers,
16:50 and as it covers, that's when I close the note here.
16:55 And I close and open the blank page like that.
17:03 I'll now repeat this three times
17:08 so you get a sense of it.
17:12 (gentle music)
17:15 I'll do it again a little slower.
17:21 (gentle music)
17:24 (gentle music)
17:52 Okay, this is the handling
17:55 that allows the note to be examined.
17:57 Perhaps you wanna give it away after you've changed it.
18:00 (gentle music)
18:05 This is the preparation for the examinable note.
18:17 We take the gimmick and put four little blobs
18:21 of white tack in the corners here.
18:25 Very, very small, just press them on like that.
18:27 And then fold and stick it like we did before
18:36 to the top left corner on the back of the note like that.
18:45 (gentle music)
18:48 Now, start position.
18:57 Fold, do the change, whichever change you like.
19:08 Open, but without needing to do the turnaround move,
19:15 you can do it if you wish,
19:17 or you can just straight away go to here
19:20 and peel it off and hand out the note like that.
19:26 (gentle music)
19:31 (gentle music)
19:33 (gentle music)
19:36 (gentle music)
19:39 (gentle music)
19:41 (upbeat music)
