December 13th, 2014. The speedy Amir Khan takes on the slick southpaw Devon Alexander in the 1st defense of his WBC Silver Welterweight Title which he garnered via UD12 over Luis Collazo 7 months ago. Both fighters were former world champions.
Prefight records; Khan 29(19)-3, Alexander 26(14)-2.
Entering the bout, Khan had beaten commendable oppositions in Andriy Kotelnik, Julio Diaz, Gairy St. Clair, Marco Antonio Barrera, Paul Malignaggi, Luis Collazo, Zab Judah & Marcos Maidana.
On the other hand, Alexander had notable wins over Andriy Kotelnik, Randall Bailey, Junior Witter, Juan Urango, DeMarcus Corley, Lucas Matthysse & Marcos Maidana.
From the opening bell, Khan in one of his career best performances utilized his phenomenal speed to outclass the Alexander en route to a lopsided UD12 victory.
The 3 judges scored it 120-108, 119-108 & 118-110 for King Khan. With this excellent win over Alexander, Khan racked up a perfect 7(5)-0 record against southpaws.
While it was apparent that Khan won just about every round, Alexander to his credit managed to connect with a number of good shots particularly in the latter part of the right although they were barely enough as he had never been so thoroughly dominated in 29 bouts.
