Daughters of Mother India' is a filmmaker's journey through the aftermath of the horrific rape and murder of a 23 year old old medical intern in Delhi on 16th December 2012. For weeks mass protests filled the streets of India and the country witnessed 'gender consciousness' and extraordinary solidarity by the ordinary citizens - like never before.

The eyes of the world were on India and country's rampant gender violence, that suddenly hit the world's headlines almost on a daily basis.

This new documentary goes inside the Indian society, the Government and looks at the swift and radical changes being made in the Police, the Judiciary and community groups, who are provoking for the first time, a national dialogue on the current sexist attitudes of Indian society and how to change them.

For the first time, in the long history of the Police force, the Police Commissioner of the Capital of India, Delhi granted permission for a camera to be allowed inside the Delhi Police Control and Command room.

Director's Statement:

“As a daughter of India, a sister, a wife, a mother,
a filmmaker...I began searching for answers for my own gender.”
