Red Cap – Lund’s Jazz Kapell 1978
There is this great website called “red hot jazz”. If there is historic jazz material from the early jazz years usually one can find this there. This tune I heard for the first time by the Swedish Lund’s Jazz Kapell during a concert in Poland, I could find in the Louis Armstrong section in the alphabetical listing at http://redhotjazz.com/lao.html.
Louis recorded this tune with his Orchestra in 1937 with a.o.Red Allen, J.C Higginbotham, Albert Nicholas, Luis Russell, Pops Foster and Paul Barbarin.
Lund’s Jazz Kapell give this tune their own feel and especially fascinating is the solo exchange between cornetist and trombonist Dymtr Markiewicz. Other members in this wonderful group are Ulf Björboom Soprano sax and clarinet (died 4 Years ago), Ingjald Andreassen Sousaphone,Thomas Ahlner Drums and Bertil Olofsson banjo.
