Man Turns Old Truck Into Mobile Shower For Homeless People
Homeless people lack access to personal hygiene. This is where Jake Austin came up with a brilliant idea to provide soap, clean water, a safe washing facility.
Austin bought an old truck and transformed it into a mobile shower unit titled “Shower to the People”. This mobile shower contains two shower stalls and a long row of sinks and mirrors. Water is taken from fire hydrants and is warmed up with the help of an external generator. Employees of ‘Raise the Bar’ give out free bath supplies for people using the unit. The truck is currently based in the St. Louis area , but Austin hopes to expand to more cities in the U.S. soon.
Weightlifter Is Best Friend With A Young Girl With Progeria
6 ft tall, 330 pound, ex marine turned powerlifter David Douglas nicknamed “The Beast” realised the true meaning of strength only when he met 12 year old Lindsay Ratcliffe. David and Lindsay met in 2013 at a powerlifting event called Relentless. These two have been friends ever since.
Lindsay has an extremely rare genetic disorder called Progeria that ages the body 8 to 10 times faster than normal giving an average lifespan of just 13 years. These two walking hand in hand at an event in Minnesota expresses David's respect for Lindsay and her spirit. “Lindsay became my lil sis since day one and is a priceless gift,” Douglas writes.
A Danish Social Worker Saves The Life Of A ‘Witch” Boy
A desperately emaciated 2 year old boy was rescued who could barely stand as he thirstily gulped water from a bottle. The boy was discovered naked and wandering the streets because he was abandoned by his family, who accused him of being a ‘witch’.
Anja Ringgren Loven, a Danish woman living in Africa rescued the boy who was riddled with worms after being forced to live off scraps of food thrown to him by passersby for eight months. She then wrapped the boy in a blanket and took him to the nearest hospital. She had to have daily blood transfusions to revive him. Later the boy has been named Hope.
Two days after asking for help with Hope's medical fees, she received $1 million in donations from around the world. Miss Loven is the founder of African Children's Aid Education and Development Foundation, which she created to rescue children labeled as witches.
This Man Saved 1000 Animals From An Annual ‘Dog Meat’ Festival
Marc Ching, who lives in Sherman Oaks went undercover as a “meat buyer” and clandestinely rescued the severely abused dogs, whom he’s brought back to the United States to rehabilitate. He made a deal with the Cambodian slaughterhouse owner instead. In exchange for shutting down the slaughterhouse, the owner would be able to make a new vegetarian noodle restaurant. Ching and his volunteers will pay for the first six months of rent and utilities.
An even bigger challenge was at China’s annual Yulin Festival, where an estimated 10,000 dogs were be slaughtered. Ching recruited 20 to 30 former military officers, veterinarians and activists from all over the world. Ching dismantled the slaughterhouses, ripping down walls, using the same hammers and machetes that were used to torture the dogs.
Ching is currently on his seventh mission to Asia to rescue dogs from the extreme torture they suffer in slaughterhouses.
